Ford Expedition or Chevrolet Tahoe?

My wife has decided with the kids and dogs and the traveling that we do that she wants a new SUV. We have owned a 1999 Expedition and a 2003 Tahoe in the past (both new) and I found both of them fairly equal.

Both of them have sequential fuel injection (no DI that I could see--which is a huge plus in my book) and they are close in price/performance/towing/technology.

If you had to choose one of them today (and please no sideline tangents with other suggestions--she is fairly set on one or the other) which would you choose and why?

Thanks in advance for the thoughts and input.

I used to live in San antonio prior to my move to kansas.
The chevy tahoe was the most popular ride on the road, saw more of those that I did my corolla. Going by that fact, I would choose the tahoe. Its popularity is probably a good reflection of the quality of the machine.

I'd go Expy. Assuming you bought your F150 from a dealer and liked that dealer, throw some more business their way. Make sure they know this, and they might be more inclined to go the extra mile to get a repeat customer.

I forgot to mention that based on the Chevy comparison tool and price alone, the scales are tipped way over to Ford (these are MSRP):

-- Tahoe = $57,070 (4WD LTZ)
-- Ford = $49,125 (4WD Limited)

$7,900 difference...

MSRP on a truck doesn't mean a whole lot. Considering the $7500-10,000 off MSRP offers on TV, I'd bet one can find either truck for substantially less than MSRP.

Some of that could be due to them being made in TX.

I would lean towards the Expy. Especially since I bought a new one a year ago and have been extremely pleased with it. For you Texas people they have a King Ranch option which I got. It makes for a very nice SUV.

Why are they so expensive ?
I don't see anything special about either SUV but I think the Tahoe is better looking.

Just based on sitting in both at the auto show this spring, I'd go Expy. I also have experience with the F150, so my bias takes me towards that platform.

Honestly though, both are capable and I'd likely take whichever one I could get a better deal on.

I have no dog in this fight, since I've never owned such a beast and I never will.
My general impression is that Ford trucks are more durable and less trouble that are GM trucks.
I may be all wet, but if I were buying such a vehicle, I'd be looking at a Ford.
Price at actual retail should be within pennies as well.

Neither, save the earth and get a vehicle that makes sense long term. There are many SUVs that are much smaller to get the job done.

Americans are lousy automobile buyers, I have seen 99/100 Silverados/F150 with their beds clean u can eat out of it.

They were never designed to be driven on the roads killing the environment. Save the extra $s to save up for kids college.

Totally off topic and adds ZERO value...thanks

This was the Chevy comparison tool and is MSRP; I am sure the final price would be far less than this, but I did find it curious there was such as disparity in the price even though the equipment was comparable (at least according to Chevy).

I'd go look at the new Dodge Durango imo, it's really nice, and better riding imo than either the Tahoe or expedition, and also has a better selection of engines (imo. The expedition still has the old 5.4L as the top engine option).
