For those that advocate 10K miles OCI

This is the same guy who says you must run 0w20 in newer Toyota Lexus engines or else it’s going to explode lol. His shop is 45 mins from my house. Got an estimate from him, quoted me 4k to do exhaust manifolds on my truck
45 minutes across the greater Chicagoland area is a hike... not exactly your neighbor but I get what you're saying.

With his youtube success and the gullibility of Toyota owners in general
What makes you say Toyota owners are gullible? Gullible how?

It's an entertaining channel. I wouldn't read too much into it. He makes great points that can be logically derived by any non-mechanic anyway. He's also not preaching Toyota dogma, per se. Hence why he always craps on their "lifetime fluid" claims.

He did say that modern Toyota engines have tighter tolerances and you must run 0w20 oil and that other opinions are old school. I’m fully aware of the price of oem Toyota parts, I never use aftermarket, even for brake pads! Headers for both sides of my truck from Toyota is 680 bucks with tax
Saying that tighter tolerances justify lighter weight oils just underscores the amount of misinformation and misunderstanding out there on the subject. Tolerances have nothing to do with clearances. Tolerances describe the amount of allowed variation in dimensions between so called identical parts. Clearances are what matters in terms of oil pressure. Bearing clearances in modern engines are not appreciably tighter on average than older ones.

Yes I agree. The car care nut says the “tighter tolerances” nonsense

I meet a lot of Toyota owners in my line of work and I swear I could sell genuine Toyota blinker fluid to at least half of them.

Many of them spend like $5k on extended warranties at the time of new car purchase. They are loyal, and it doesn’t take much to get them to part with their money.

Non-Toyota blinker fluid tends to be too corrosive. ;)

Ya, that could be a lot of adults in America, but I get your point.

On Edit : FYI, I posted a UOA in this thread, Post #165

I had to go download them from Blackstone.
I threw all this stuff away when I sold the truck.

These are from my '13. The two reports show its complete history.
The first 3 columns on the bottom report are repeated from the top.
The top report, column on the far left is when I switched to Magnatec.
Only oil I ever used that said it would lower wear and actually did..... by quite a bit.
Blackstone made comments on its makeup.

This truck was a daily commuter.
~45 miles each way.
I would bet that most of the time it was started it ran for an hour and reached full temperature saturation.
Mostly Hwy miles.
Operating conditions made it easy on this engine.

This report is from my '17.
Same operating conditions.
I had to have the oil pan replaced twice due to leakage.
I kept waiting extra time to let silicone and Ford oil work its way out.
Then Castrol quit making Magnatec.
Then I retired and went to yearly oil changes.
I just haven't been doing UOA's.
But this is what I have on it.
Last report was before retirement.

That’s because genuine Toyota parts are the best.

OEM parts are usually the best. Except when they aren’t. Blind faith in Everything a brand does or recommends is the reason I stopped paying much attention to the car care nut’s videos.
