Trasko oil filter.

Someone showed up at our weekend camping site with a late 50's Ford pickup with a Y-block V8 and a Trasko oil filter. His father is the original owner and he says he changes the Trasko filter every 5-6K miles and the oil every 2nd or 3rd filter change. He tows a camping trailer along with a couple of bikes and puts about 20K miles a year on this rig. He's added a larger fuel filter with an electric fuel pump to feed a 2-barrel carb and a much larger treated paper air filter. He's old school and runs Castrol 20w-50 conventional oil and evidently the oil filter and oil combination is doing a good job.

I wonder if anyone here has even heard of a Trasko oil filter.

I wonder how restrictive this thing is with that tight toilet paper roll? Looks like the oil flows between the sheets instead of through them perpendicular.

Looking at the photos of the housing torn apart, it looks like most of the oil would go the screen and then bypass the media through the big holes in the top of the center tube. Seems a bit mickey mouse to me.

I've had a Trasko filter on my Acura Legend for a few years. There has not been anything outstanding as far a particle count is concerned. I don't see anything that matches or exceeds the filtration I get from an Amsoil filter.
