If we can avoid flaming, I would appreciate it.

As I said in the other thread, had this planned for a couple months, waiting to get all my returns and stuff in order. Did it today. It's the same dealer that we originally bought our Expedition from on 02, the mustang in 09, and my original focus, actually the same guy we bought the Mustang and focus from too. I put down a lot of money, suffice to say the total amount financed was only $13k and some change. In one fell swoop, the debt I have to my name is cut down to almost 1/3 what it was. My monthly expenses, should I lose my job, are at the point where I can subsist on unemployment and my savings account.

Also, they gave my mom a really good deal on her trade. As I mentioned before as well, she was looking to get back into something bigger, for the camper they want to buy in a few years, as well as when we build the house later this year, we will need something to haul stuff around, as well as landscaping, which we plan to do all ourselves.

As I said in the review I did a short while ago, the Nox is a great car, but it's not big enough for what we will be needing to do, and wanting to do. So she is trading it, for a 2013 Ford F-150 Supercrew. It's an XLT with the 3.5L Ecoboost V6, it's black, with the adobe colored interior, 4WD model. They are waiting to hear back from the bank on that one, should get it sometime during the week.

Anyway, I can't even get across to you just how done I am with this stuff. I've made it very clear to my mom, that if I ever try to do anything like this again, to forcefully restrain me. I have positive equity in a vehicle for once, and as long as I retain my job, I will continue to pay $500/mo, and I can have it paid off in 2/3 years.

I'll have pics of the F-150 later this week, but for this is what I got with it dark and in the garage. It's a 2013, and the only reason I did that was because that with the rebates, it was actually $500 cheaper than the equivalent pre owned 12' model with 34k miles, and I get the full warranty. I did the financing through my credit union, so no shenanigans there. 1.99% interest for 72 months, though as I said, I'm going to continue paying significantly above the payment to get it payed off. Regular SE model, No Myford touch, just the normal sync system, with USB input. Had the winter package so heated cloth seats and side mirrors.

Will post better pics later.

This isn't the exact one, but this is the color, same trim.

Addendum: Originally she was looking at another expedition, but decided that in the long term, for the 5th whee/camper they plan to get, that getting the F-150 now would make more sense long term.

Way too expensive, was stupid for buying a car that expensive, gas mileage isn't good enough for my 70 mile commute, uncomfortable (for me) steering wheel, too small. Nothing bad, mainly I spent way more than I should have on a car It was way more car than I needed, and wanted to cut down on my debt, and be sustainable long term. And also make it so that if something happens and I lose my job, that I won't be a burdon on my family.

EDIT: I also got X-Plan through Time Warner Cable, which also helped make it make more sense than a pre owned model, which was again, more expensive and with less warranty. Plus I figure the 13s have most of the bugs with the transmission sorted out.

I did, and very nearly got it. But I figured that I would rather have the extra cog (6 speed auto, vs 5 manual) in the automatic. Plus that way my mom doesn't have to kill her shoulder (She had rotator cuff surgery on her right shoulder a few years back)

If you can afford it and if going down this road makes since to you its your life, no one else can live it. Enjoy your new vehicles and you will be fine, just make sure you to live within your means which sounds like you are doing. After you pay your vehicles off save for your retirement and something fun to keep you motivated, like a vacation somewhere.

Thanks for the update. Since the release of the skyactive engines i have been watching for realibilty issue's.
The focus is a sharp looking car, far better looking than the model you had before in My opinion. Hope you enjoy it.

Congrats.

I still don't understand why you didn't just replace the mazda with a cheaper slightly older used car that you could have paid cash for and not bother with another car loan. I thought that was the earlier plan.

When I bought the CX-5, I wasn't thinking about any of that. Most of you probably remember, I was all "ooh I'm making more money so I should buy an expensive car" when what I really should have been thinking was "Great, I have a better job, I should be saving more money for a rainy day and retirement".

I am also contributing a couple hundred every month into a State Farm Roth IRA, and my savings account at a seperate bank, which I can't touch unless it is absolutely required. I'm trying to live within my means. I've cut out a lot of my eating out too.

I'm trying to be a lot more responsible.

I'm saving up money as well for a few trips this year, one to visit my family out in Ohio, and then down to visit a friend and go to Anime Weekend Atlanta in the summer, and New York Comiccon again next fall. Those are going to be my "splurge" trips this year.

That was my initial plan too. Then I thought about it, and realized if I put down a large chunk, I can get my required payment low, and pay a lot extra. But still have a car that has a warranty for a few years, and doesn't already have 60k miles, like the Neon I was looking at. I've said this before, this is the last car I will buy, but after the whole thing with the Mazda, this really is. I flat out told my mom to refuse to let me do this again.

Fortunately, I respect her and trust her more than anyone else, and I know that she won't let me do anything stupid again. I told her to lock my title up if need be.

I will say that the CX-5 was very reliable. Only went back to the dealer once, and it was for oil change and tire rotation. No problems. The CX-5 was rated the most reliable small SUV last year. Seems that way too.

Bookmarking this one, so that I can dig it out in a year or two.

Seriously though, I hope you stick to your guns this time.

I don't want a car payment in a few years. Come [censored] or high water, or the 2nd coming, or whatever, this is the final time. It's far more stress than I need, and I want to possibly be able to get an apartment or my own house 5 years or more down the line.

It's like deja vu all over again.

Like the lines of this Focus better than the first one. What's the EPA mileage specs and engine size? Ford guys here will be happy.

Hope you enjoy your new ride and keep it around a while (longer) this time.

But no matter, if there's a vote for current most entertaining Bitog poster, you got my vote.

27 City, 38 highway. It's the 2.0L GDI engine. 160HP. It's the Dual Dry Clutch 6 speed auto. It's a little less than 3,000RPM at 79mph.

Also thanks... I think.

Nice ride, you will be very happy with it. I am umm....affiliated with Ford and they are great cars. Having said that, your folks will LOVE the Ecoboost F150!!! I just bought a 2013 King Ranch ecoboost 150 and it's an animal lol!!! That little V-6 is amazing, great diesel like power at low rpm's and better fuel economy than the V-8's!! Congrats to you both.

It's all good, your posts keep things interesting. All in good fun, no flaming intended. Thanks for the specs. Enjoy.

How much was your CX-5 valued at on trade in ?

I thought you were away in college and not at home.

Good job.. I did the same only much later in life. Now get the Focus paid off and start stashing money. Unlike some of the older persons I know you might be able to have fun when you get there.
