First oil filter you bought?

What a turd for get up and go…
You have no idea... or maybe you do. Someone had messed up the vacuum hoses, it had a cracked block by the front corner, and I had to beat on the starter with a 2x4 some of the time to make it work. It had a natural speed limiter (aka a death wobble in the front end) that kept me from going too fast. But it was my first car, so there was that... The '68 Volvo I replaced it with could run rings around it. I think I put a stubby little Pennzoil filter on that car, but I just recall for sure it was yellow. It had about 200k on it when I sold it. That car is the one I regret selling the most after all of these years.

My friend in college had a 77 Grenada…Inconceivably slow, even with a “V8”

I can’t think of any V8 engines made in 1977 that made more than 250 horsepower unless it was in something exotic. In fact most of them were less than 200 horsepower. It was a sad time period 😥
The first gen American cars with catatonic diverters, EGR, and AIR pumps. Draconian Gov mandated design rather than just letting the engineers meet the spec.

I think it was a FRAM and Kendall oil around 1982 for my beloved 1976 280Z... I knew nothing except orange looked cool...
Nothing like being 16 in the 80's with a cool car! Can I go back in time? Please?

1980 Pontiac Phoenix with the Iron Duke 4 cylinder

Discovered the longer oil filter from the 6 cylinder fit,

PH3980, Fram red can…

Made it to 273,000,
then the car bent like a banana behind the drivers seat
due to frame rust
Drove it to the junkyard middle of the car dragging on the ground…

PF61e for my 04... to fix the cold start lifter noise from an orange can fram with a **** adbv. That was 15 years ago

I think it was around 1977 or 1978, my older brother had a 2 door 1967 Mercury with a 390, repainted black from the original green, looked kind of cool with cragar five spoke mags, dual exhaust with Royal Scott glass packs, still with the ugly green interior though, lol. I told my brother that maybe it needed an oil change? He wasn't motivated to do it, so I took it upon myself thinking he would let me use his car if I put some work into it, like every 15 year old, it was an exciting time in ones life with anticipation to get your drivers licence, went to the local Macleods hardware store, looked on the oil filter placard, Fram PH8A, still remember the box's cut away view covered in cellophane, I was told by my brothers mechanic friend to use 10w40 as the engine had over 100,000 miles, I think it was Quaker State 10w40 in cans I bought at the same time, the oil light would flicker at stop signs when in drive. :)

Supertech ST3614 with Mobil 1 5w30 in summer of 2007 for my 2001 Saturn SL1. That was the first time I ever changed my oil. You never forget your first time. Hard to believe I've been on this site and changing my own oil for near 20 years. Time flies...

If I remember correctly back then the you could get Supertech oil filters for $1.97.

After using Supertech oil filters I moved to Purolator Pure Ones. Once those became known here as 'tear-o-lators' I switch and used Fram Toughguards for a long long time. Now that Fram is gone I've just been using OEM for all my vehicles lately...

Fram oil filter around 1980. Still used the steel spout for the cardboard? oil can. Quaker State of course, 10w40.

1973 Pontiac Lemans T-37 350ci

Used Fram for all my vehicles; 1991 Subaru legacy, 1996 Chevy s10 pickup. Usually the tough guard for the Chevy since they had a truck on the box lol and the Subaru was the Fram high mileage filter. Then I started at pepboys as a technician and used purolator. Then I was a Honda tech and used oem
