First oil filter you bought?

Would have been in the early 60s on my Dad's 58 Pontiac or my 51 Chevy. Was probably a Purolator or Fram along with some straight 30 weight, of course. My dad was in the Air Force, so I probably would have done it on a lift at the base auto hobby shop -- my second home!

So why the change in your story?

Cause my dad drove that car for work and his Dakota in winter. I did drive the Ciera more as the Sinbird I gave to grandma. Forgot I started similar thread also. No spring chicken anymore.

I was 16 years old (in 1986) when I did my first oil change, on my 1979 Mustang. I used a Fram orange can, and probably paid less than 2 bucks for it! I know that I used Quaker State 10w40 for my first oil change too. After that I was a Castrol XLR user for a few years.

It was probably a Fram orange can for my 1981 VW Rabbit. Either Fram or STP from Walmart (Before they introduced the Tech2000 filters that eventually turned into Supertech.)
