They will find a way to cheapen Fram, the reality is that the best oil filter that was ever made will no longer come back. Just buy the cheapest oil filter and change it every 5000 miles. I have 3 of the original XG2's on my shelf as well as an original XG3600, these oil filters in a properly running engine are good for at least 30,000 miles if you consider a 5000-mile OCI with a good synthetic oil. It is really a shame that the people who bought Fram could have kept the original favorite of mine and charged at least $5.00 more and I would have still bought it. I did have the chance of buying at least 10 of the original XG2's but I passed because I was thinking what if I do not have my car anymore and I get something else!

What I was saying before.. Of the news that PGI is buying out First Brand's Intellectual property of most of their brands including Fram. I kept thinking and posting that PGI would have new business after all the customers of Fram didn't have any more filters and they turn to PGI. Everyone and yes I agree that throwing away the Fram brand was a huge mistake. But instead PGI buys out the IP of Fram (and other brands) and will sell under those brands.
This is great news, now Fram brand will stay on the shelf, where it's brand name has a huge (almost an understatement) reach in the marketplace. And.. we will get readily available PGI made filters! Which is awesome! Not that they're hard to find now, just more options.
From all the cut/posts we've seen of the PGI filters, they have excellent quality, and this just furthers that! Cool!

I do have to wonder though, about PGI, what kind of liabilities were they inheriting? Hope it's not a festering wound that's going to infect them down the road!
I figure big debtors gonna have lawsuits.......yeah regardless of bankruptcy..........and who knows other lawsuits and liabilities. You bet PGI is and has done due diligence.
Ironically (and other long words) I told Amsoil (I think I mentioned this) about going to PGI (January or maybe 2025). Let us see.

They are an offshoring company though, so I'm not sure how well that bodes for the future of the manufacturing facilities (which I appreciate are currently suspended) in North America where this doesn't apply:

Yeah, this is the continuation of the legacy that got the West into the state that it's in. Historical brand gets sold to private equity to benefit a select few, private equity runs it into an iceberg, offshoring hawk buys it for next to nothing, valuable IP is transferred, the divide between have and have not grows while domestic security is slowly eroded.
This is surprising to me, and I’ve worked with carmakers (sales and marketing capacity) at the factory level since 1995.
I would’ve thought that Fram alone had significantly more blue-sky brand value than $25M

I know they got a lot of brands for not much basically the price of what they would have had to spend establish a complete sales and dealer network but I'm not sure how much Autolite adds to the deal anymore as we never use them at work and a lot of the motorcraft branded plugs are made by NGK so what is their market share of plugs anymore ?
If only PGI would keep the Greenville Fram plant open, but we know they won't
