Someone will buy the name if not the tooling, but these things take time even under "fire sale" conditions.

MAT bought the Bendix brand name from Garrett - it was negelcted and still kinda is.
The guys who ran First Brands are the same kind of people who take a profitable manufacturer to China just because they can. So sad for US workers. There has to be a better way to run these businesses.
So I just put together that some of this makes sense w Advance getting rid of Fram and TSC got rid of all Reese towing stuff.
Reese, Bulldog, Tekonsha and DrawTite.....that'll leave a pretty big hole in the towing market?

Anco and Trico? I'm guessing the blades O'Reilly has been blowing out like Rainguard were made by Anco or Trico

I was at Advance Auto the other day and noticed they have severed ties with First brands. All of the Fram-branded filters are gone, the Fram oil is all on clearance, no more Trico wipers, all replaced with Bosch, and based on the packaging, it appears they’ve found a new manufacturer for their Carquest branded wipers.
First Brands Group has been unable to find financing or a buyer to continue most of its companywide operations, the bankrupt auto-parts supplier said as it laid off employees in its aftermarket businesses Monday.
First Brands said in a letter to laid-off workers that several potential buyers for the company “suddenly and unexpectedly” withdrew or narrowed their bids to interest in certain units in recent days.

It looks like everything aftermarket will be shutdown and liquidated and only the OEM products for GM & Ford will continue operations.

First Brands Group, LLC has announced the permanent closure of its Champion Labs facility in Albion.
In a news release issued today, the company said the shutdown begins immediately, February 23rd, with as many as 1,000 employees notified that their employment is terminated effective today. Because the facility is closing in its entirety, bumping rights will not apply.
The company says it regrets the decision and described the closure as permanent.

Yes. As @ZeeOSix and I have been saying for ages, and @Pablo agrees, AMSOIL needed to find a new supplier before this started going sideways, now they will be in a real bind to find that company. I had suggested Fleetguard or Donaldson, companies who already focus on quality product and would likely be able to handle the limited slate of offerings the EaO filters are geared toward.
Usually a lifeguard is expected to know how to swim, lest they both drown.
I figured many of the EaO skus were already Donaldson and just assumed Amsoil would expand their footprint with Donaldson.
I haven't followed Amsoil happenings in ages, though so I'm way out of the loop.

EaO filters used to use Donaldson media and some of the cans were made by Donaldson, others Wix. But the whole portfolio was moved to Champion Labs a while back, and they stopped using the Donaldson media too.

Industry sources anticipate that more First Brands plants could be shuttered as the auto parts giant struggles with escalating debt and the ongoing criminal prosecution of its founders, James and Edward Patrick.
In recent weeks, First Brands’ attorneys signaled that the company is quickly running out of cash and may be forced to transition some subsidiaries from Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization to Chapter 7 liquidation.

Amsoil decided to eat the fruit from the Champ Lab tree and are now suffering the consequences. It's a shame they chose higher profits over quality. I hope this will be their wakeup call.
and a lot of jobber/quick lube filters as well. ACDelco and the original factory filters for Ford are Champ. SuperTech is Champ. Harley OEM, TRD and Kohler/Briggs are also Champ.
Given that Walmart has at least two suppliers for batteries I suspect they already had or started working on a second supplier when the news first hit. I am sure there are companies that can manufacture oil filters under private label to whatever spec you want.
I was just at Walmart last night - my local store has many SKUs out of stock. Some SuperTechs are now Fram(ST2/16). Most of the Fram selection is small.
looks like Premium Guard might be getting some new customers in the filter industry!!
So a news article mentions Hopkins Manufacturing shutting down as part of First Brands fallout. But have no idea what they manufacture.
