Good Morning folks. Was at Wal Mart near OH line this morning. Spotted Havoline bag in a box now being carried. Price isn’t too shabby either.

I order Havoline from WM on line. Get it shipped to my door for free as long as I spend $35.00

Always get it the next day FedEx Ground.

And always in stock from their distribution center.
Yes, me too.

I actually don't like the box. I fear it will leak. I only order it like a week ahead. I like the oil though.

Chevron is one of the very few companies that produces its own base oil and additives. I’ve heard the in house testing facility is impressive.
Is Havoline oil different than Chevron Supreme or Chevron Delo?

AFAIK...

Chevron was and is California oil most heavily marketed in the Western States. Havoline was Texas oil marketed most heavily in Texas, Midwest, and Eastern USA.

Then (years ago) Chevron bought the Havoline brand name from Texaco. Ever since then they've the same California/Chevron oil marketed under Chevron name most heavily in Western states, under Havoline name most heavily in Midwest and Eastern states.

But it's the same Chevron oil whether marketed under the C or H name, and its California oil which is acceptable, but not as good as East Coast oil.

At least that is what I've always thought. Much of it learned from an autoshop teacher. The rest from reading online. However, that info is mostly info from back when most oil was conventional oil. So maybe that doesn't apply as much to group 3 syn.

If what I said above is outdated, or incorrect, then please reeducate me.

I know Chevron bought Texaco(Havoline) around 2000. As far as what oils are the same or where they come from I don’t know.

I have used Havoline Pro DS with great success. There’s a bunch of teardown vids on YouTube from Chevron with this oil. I also had great success with Chevron Supreme back in the day. I consider Chevron/Havoline mostly under appreciated here. They don’t have fancy marketing like some other majors.

My dad tried a case of Havoline conventional decades ago. It also had more oil consumption than the Pennzoil conventional that he usually used. So I was never Havoline fan. But that was so long ago that it might not be relevant anymore.

I used to use Chevron Supreme in my Buick. It had thin viscosity for 5w30 and the engine burned and leaked oil. I had same issues with Mobil One 5w30 in my Buick.

With Pennzoil and Valvoline my Buick leaked less and burned none.

I had similar, though less pronounced, oil burning issues with those same oils in my Jeep 4L.

My experiences with Buick 3800 and Jeep 4L are why I stopped being a Chevron and Mobil 1 user and became a Pennzoil and Valvoline user.

However, I never tried Havoline Pro DS. Also, my experiences with Chevron Supreme and Mobil One were 15-25 years ago.

Things may have changed, or others may have had different/better experiences with Havoline, Chevron, and Mobil One than I did. I wasn't using their premium products. Just their basic products. They all offer more premium choices than I had used. Also, my experiences with them were 15-30 years ago.

Why not?! We get excited about oil filters, High Mile oils etc. don’t like the post don’t reply or be a buzz kill

Sheesh!
You misinterpreted me. I wasn't trying to be a buzz kill. I'm sincerely asking why you're excited about it? I was asking why you like it? I'd like to know your reasons because I might learn new things from you.

Offending you was not my intention. I think that was a misunderstanding.

Which Havoline oil did you buy? Synthetic? Pro DS?
