I need to change out my Castrol Edge synthetic oil very soon. Its getting warm in the northeast. I can get the oil at Wallmart (6 qts). But Wallmart carries a [censored] supply of non Fram filter. No Fram oil filter will go on this car. Wallmart has few Super Tech filters and a few AC Delco. I have an Amsoil EA filter on it now but my supply of Amsoil filters is down to zero. Maybe to AZ and pick up a Bosch or Mobil 1.

Thoughts?

If your going to do OCIs at 10,000 or less, purchase a Purolator PureOne or Bosch Preminum (not sold at WM). These are excellent mid-prices filters ($5 to $7). Beyond 10,000,, a Mobil 1 would be good for up to 15,000 OCIs.

If OCI will be in the 5,000 area, the Motorcraft or AC Delco would be my choice (both sold at WM), or a Purolator Classic (not sold @ WM).

Almost anything Walmart has except Fram that fits should be fine. Otherwise, I think I would grab an STP at AZ. The more I learn, the less sure I am that Fram is a problem.

If your Walmart carries the Mopar filter get that. If not I'd say Bosch or M1 at Auto Zone.

Drop by a Napa and get a Napa Gold 1085. On sale this month. Excellent filter. Or, save money by buying several at FleetFilter.com. Great way to have Napa Golds shipped right to you for less than what they are in-store.

So I happened to stumble across a Amsoil dealer (normal parts store) and got an Ea42 but it cost a whopping $21.xx at this place. There are places that do oil changes for under $20. So now I have a filter, whats the best 5QT jug of synthetic at Walmart (besides ST). I think they have Mobil 1, PP, and Castrol Edge which is whats in their now. I need 6 qts and in some cases while the 5 qts may be cheaper the 1 qt is way out of whack, making the total for 6 qts higher.
