hi,guys, here's my question:

I broght my honda s2000 to my mechanic shop for oil change today. My mechainc was supposed to fill "Motul 8100", which i had orderd and used in the past. However, for whataver reason, he filled it "Motul specific 505.01" instead. I just realized that after I got home and look at the oil bottle. I've never heard about "Motul soecific 505.01" before so I just did a quick search on motul website then I found it is for VW diesel engine (as it states on the website). Now I am kind of worried about since this oil is not for gasoline engine, at least it is made for VW not Honda.
Should I switch back to Motul 8100 right away ? or I can keep using this "Motul specific 501.01" for a while?

thanks in advance!

I usually change it every 4000 miles but this time I think I gonna change it earlier.

Why? That's a top quality oil designed for 15000km European oil change intervals. Run it for 4000 miles if that's what you normally do. You could even double that and run 8000 mile easily with that oil.

I think motul specific 505.01 has lower rating than 8100 right? and it is designed for VW engine, that's the reason I feel worry. Maybe I am just too picky.

Ok yeah it's complete junk. Drop it out as soon as you can if it'll make you happy.

No seriously. It's a good oil stop worrying.

Your car does not use a turbo (unless you modified it and in that case, you left out a really important detail since you're asking for advice) and Honda engines are known to be way easier on oil than even naturally aspirated VW engines.

Isn't there other areas that you could spend money on to maintain your car? Motul every 4000 miles is overkill and that's fine as long as you're being just as good with things like transmission fluid, spark plugs, and fuel additives for example.

What specs does 8100 meet? And which European engine is in your Honda?
