Hi guys I'll make this quick, some help would be great. OK I did a post in the oil section and will go back to that post but I need some help on the oil filter.

I do care about my car and want it to run it's best at all times. I live where it can get 100+F (South Texas) about as south as you can get!

So I am going to switch my new (used)2002 Chrysler concorde LXI to Synthetic. The car has 99,000 miles on it. I plan on using Max life synthetic for about 2000 miles then do it again with Amsiol and Amsiol filter. Sound like a good plan?

Should I use Amsiol, or would it be "to slick," for my car? Also since it's a Chrysler and the tranny is the ATF+4 would I be able to use Amsoil and Amsiol filter on the car?

I'm just not sure what to use as far as filters go and such, I've been reading every thing up and down and get lost in every ones thoughts! I just want some thing to keep my car running good while in this Texas HOT sun. I will be using a K&N air filter unless Amsoil makes a better one?!

Thanks again guys.

You would do quite well to use a Wix filter (NAPA Gold is same). I wouldn't toss the Maxlife Synthetic in 2K miles. Should be good for at least 6K (I run regular Maxlife 5K easily), unless engine is extremely dirty, then maybe a couple short OCI with cheap oil (but in spec) and Pep Boys $2 after rebate filters.

Maxlife is a nicely priced synthetic. Hey this month Advance Auto has Max Synth for $3.39 a quart. Stock up!

Actually you would do just fine on regular Maxlife unless you have some extreme situation that warrants synthetic, but for the AA price the synth is cheaper than the regular right now.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to run it 2000 miles since it would be the first synthetic oil this car has had. Also would Maxlife synthetic be a good brand to use? I'm kinda of scared of switching, I don't want an oild leak! lol

If you are going to do a "conditioning flush", I'd do an Auto-Rx cycle to clean your engine and get your seals in good shape. Run the Amsoil oil and filter after.
