I ordered some parts from California on 6/24/2026...I finally got an email saying it arrived at the FedEx facility on 7/1 and left on 7/2 with a delivery date of 7/7 between 10:40 am and 2:45 pm. After it didn't arrive that day I got an apology message on the FedEx tracking site saying it would arrive on 7/8 at the same times. On 7/8 Iate in the day I got a message that it would arrive on 7/9 at those same times. Today (7/9) I get a message that my package was delivered at 11:50 am with a picture showing the package on a concrete slab with two white vinyl siding slats showing which wasn't my house (not enough in the picture for me to identify the house). I drove around looking for it for over an hour with no luck. I finally spotted a FedEx truck and flagged down the driver who said it wasn't him who delivered it to the wrong address and called 2 other drivers who couldn't help....he also called his supervisor who couldn't help. I will give this guy credit for at least trying to help find it. He told me to start a 'delivered to wrong address' claim...which I did. The parts were on 'Clearance' so I doubt I'll be able to duplicate my order. I've never had an issue when UPS or even USPS is used but I've had issues like this with FedEx before.
FedEx is a 3rd rate company IMO and I would never recommend or use them.

Was it Fedex Ground? Remember that Fedex Ground is a separate company run by contractors. Fedex Ground drivers are contractors, not Fedex employees, so the 2 drivers could've been 2 different contractors with 2 different employers/companies :sneaky:
Not for long, soon Express will be contractors too. Page out of AMZN's playbook!

Sorry, that's hilarious.... You have to realize your package could have been delivered 50 miles away from your house. The odds of finding it by driving around are slim to none.

When the driver scans a delivery when it's dropped off, their system logs the GPS coordinates. No, they won't tell you what they are but they can attempt to have the driver that messed up go and retrieve it and deliver it to the right place. In most cases though, the shipper has to initiate all of this.

They've laid off Express drivers in some instances but the ones that remain will stay as actual employees. At least they've been told this.... for now....

We need airtag or some kind of live tracking device in packages now. I'd pay for that just to see in real time where it is pinged from right inside the box.

FedEx has screwed up a few times before (hence my original title.."FedEx strikes again"..which was changed by the mods) and I was able to locate my packages. I live near a large lake that borders NY and NJ and there is a Lake Street, a Lake Trail, a Lake Drive and Lakes Road all in the area (I live on one of them which I realize can be difficult for delivery people who aren't careful). In the past I've checked those streets and found my packages. None of the other streets have the same numbers as my address and I've never had a problem with deliveries from Walmart, Amazon, UPS, USPS etc...

When my address is "Google GPS'd' it shows my house so this was definitely carelessness on the FedEx drivers part. When I called to report the package missing I got a person with poor English who was most likely in a different country. My guess is that unless the person who received the package brings it I'm out of luck...I have very little faith in FedEx.

PS: A few years back I was driving up a hill near my house on my way to work when 2 tires rolled out the back of a FedEx truck which kept going. I stopped and retrieved them but couldn't overtake the truck so I continued on to work and a couple of days later I saw a FedEx truck at the local coffee shop and gave him the tires. It turned out he was the driver who lost the tires and thanked me profusely. (I never reported finding the tires to FedEx because I didn't want to get the driver in trouble but with the amount of wrong deliveries they make (as seen on FB, Reddit etc...) I doubt there are any consequences these days. There seems to be far more complaints about FedEx than any of the other carriers.

Here is an update....It's Sunday just before noon and a man pulls up with my package. FedEx left the package in front of his house which is 7 or 8 miles away from mine. He said he made several calls to FedEx to come and pick up the package but kept getting automated responses so he delivered it to me and used GPS to find my address. It's nice to know there are still some good people left out there.

Fedex has mis-directed several of my packages in the past:
  • Delivered a new laptop to a neighbor 4 houses down. I was actively waiting at home for the Fedex truck (his usual late afternoon delivery time), and then I get a "delivered" notification in the app. I put 2-n-2 together and figured out my laptop was delivered to the wrong house. Funny thing - I immediately walked-down to the neighbor's house, rung the Ring camera, and waited for them to come to the door, before I picked-up the package off their front porch (no need to make them think I'm a porch pirate!), the Fedex guy comes hastily back to retrieve the package, when he says his supervisor called him to tell him the package was mis-delivered!
  • I purchased a set of "take-off" wheels & tires from a forum member in Florida. They sent them wrapped via Fedex Ground to my home in WA state. After receiving 3 of the 4 packages, I watched as the 4th package had made it as far as Illinois, and then it back-tracked to Georgia, then started to travel to Louisiana! I notified Fedex immediately and told them about the way-ward package. After a couple of days of sitting (in the back of a Fedex trailer, I imagine...), it back-tracked to Georgia, and then finally made it's way west to get finally delivered about 5 days later!

Just yesterday I opened a couple Amazon packages ( four in total, I was away for a few days and had someone put them inside my house ). After opening one of them, I realized it was not for me but for the house 2 doors down the street. I gave it to them and apologized for opening it

Last year Amazon gave me one of theirs and them one of mine on the same day. We both opened them before realizing and both apologized for opening them when we gave them to each other.

Before Christmas several years ago, the U.S. Mail left someones package on my porch. It took several phone calls but eventually they picked it up for proper delivery. It was only a few blocks away, but I ain't starting a president with them of delivery it anywhere close is good enough.

FedEx left the package in front of his house which is 7 or 8 miles away from mine.
In most cases, this is the most likely outcome - that the person that rec'd it will bring it.

I do wonder what would happen if you dropped it in a Fedex dropbox (you'd probably have a really hard time getting a Fedex store or driver to accept it and scan it). When it goes through their system, it will register as already delivered, which should trigger someone looking into it.

That's interesting.... Their system is monitoring deliveries live and cross-checking the label address with GPS location and catching mis-deliveries !

We've done that and had neighbors do it to ours. If you get enough packages, who checks the label ? Why would you or should you ?
