Of course it depends on your speed, car range, etc.

The last time our M3P was on a Supercharger was from Los Gatos to Sac for a baby shower. On the return trip, we drove to SFO (or was it Oakland?) to drop someone for their flight, stopped at a Starbucks for a quick charge and pick up a drink, then home. About 350 miles all in. Can not do that on a single charge. Your Accord would make it no sweat, right?

Yeah supercharging is a huge boost especially if free.... I'm thinking I can get nearly 700 miles out of a tank on the Accord.... I will know in a few weeks... the only EV negative is too many stops for a straight run...keeping awake that is.

Don't forget the Boring Co which took in MILLIONS from Las Vegas tax payers. Elon claimed that he'd have 12-13 miles of connecting tunnels to all of the major casinos within a couple of years at most. Well.... The Boring Co has exactly 1.3 miles of Tunnels to nowhere.

60% of new car sales in Iceland are electric. They are second behind Norway. They don’t seem to be discouraged by cold weather.

I didn't state they weren't feasible, just that there's an additional amount of hassle in the cold.
Generating heat from electric cuts deeply into the range.
And charging the batteries involves a strategy in the extreme cold, as heating of the batteries has to occur before the charging can begin.
If you live in an apartment or don't have a garage, these are a serious consideration.

So whatever our government gives towards those private industries I am SURE is far more cost effective than if NASA did it themselves.

I know it sounds confusing but even the MEDIA seems clueless as it lists Tesla as a company Musk owns. GEEZ, we are doomed as a nation for those who count on the media to get anything right.

That is not a list of subsidies.

You claim Space X is given funds for other than services rendered. Please specify. You claim to know this.

And again, what funding channel is giving Musk Federal funds for AI R&D?

Same for Starlink, this was built over government objection. It qualified for rural internet projects but was rejected. Government spent billions on other internet handouts which cost more than unsubsidized Starlink and perform poorer.

For those curious, I’m finding new 2025 Chevy Equinox EV LT FWD cars available for $11-17K after the $7500 tax incentive. Probably the last time you’ll ever be able to get a sub $20K new car. Not a horrible EV with 318 miles of range.

That is the number one reason sighted by people who don’t buy them. It’s the reason I would not own one exclusively. I would be happy to have one as a local only car.

If your state and local incentives are such that you can get one for $11k, buy one for me, keep it a few months as needed to get your credits and I will give you a $2500 finders fee

They are currently running $18,200 to $26,000. But that is prior to the $7500 tax credit. The three that I have found for under $19,000 all sell within a couple hours of being listed.

That is the number one reason sighted by people who don’t buy them. It’s the reason I would not own one exclusively. I would be happy to have one as a local only car.

100%. It's also a complete misunderstanding of the use of an EV. I've said multiple times that I wanted an EV before I owned one and always cited range as a problem. It's far from a local only car. I didn't understand it properly before using one. Probably took daily driving it for two months to settle in to how much of a non issue it was and I already owned one for 2 years before that. I just never really drove it much since wasn't my daily.

I've spent more time over the road in this car in the last 7 months that I have the last 8 years. Other than pulling up to a charger in public occasionally instead of stopping at a gas station, it was just as easy and I didn't have to smell gasoline.

That's a heck of a buy. I'm not in the market now, but I was watching for them to show up at my local dealer here. I should look again. I wanted to at least check it out when it came out at least for curiosity.

I think it might be worth actually having a conversation with people who have road tripped EVs instead of speculation. I've never seen a type of car to have more arm chair quarterbacks than EVs, facts usually being optional.

How do we know how far these people are driving per day?
Regarding 10 minutes (or 20 - 30), each to his/her own, but I have learned to hate gassing up. On the other hand, I haven't driven over 500 miles in one day much in a long time. Last time I drove from San Diego to Los Gatos, that little Civic LX ate up the road!

Yes, I know - I can get 200 miles in 15 minutes at a supercharger - assuming a spot is open. And Tesla will route me there. If its not on my direct path, too bad for me. Or I can get 400 miles in 5 minutes at any gas station.

On a road trip I’ve yet to have a single charger not be immediately off of a highway just like any fuel station though and I’m rarely in very populated areas. That was my biggest surprise.
