I've read a lot of good reviews on this Feather stainless double edge razor and decided to pop for one. Already use Feather blades in my Edwin Jagger razor.

Let us know how long the blades last? I used to use that type years ago. I forget how they compare cost wise to the new multiple blade types.

Feather blades are known as the thinnest, sharpest double edge blades made. In an aggressive razor they can be dangerous. But once I started using them I could not go back to regular double edge blades, which felt like they were pulling out my beard rather than cutting it. I typically can get three clean shaves out of a Feather blade in my Edwin Jagger razor. I can feel it starting to drag on the fourth.

Now you speak my language! Nothing like great Vintage Gillette, Hoffritz DE razors and some fine blades for a great shave. I even use a Vintage Gem razor with a single edge blade for some extra close shaves.
IMO....This Great Razor from Feather! With Feather Blades, or if you can find some, Iridium or Kai DE blades.
I've also purchased and have been using the new Muhle R41, only when I have 3 or more days growth, another great DE razor....but unforgiving if you get careless...lol.
Right after a nice hot shower or a hot towel soak to soften up the whiskers.
I use some Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap and a nice Simpson Badger hair brush for face lathering.
Prep is 90% of a great BBS shave.
After Shaves.....I like to mix with some Witch Hazel for cooling, soothing, freshness after a great shave.

I buy Feathers 100 at a time. If you buy 100 Feather Blades, on the bay, from a chap in Singapore, you pay about $31 for the blades including shipping. The only downside is the wait, which could take 3 weeks with customs etc.... But for the price....they are worth it for the wait. A years supply of the worlds sharpest blades for $30 is a great deal!

No matter what I shave with, I always use some Speick AS when I'm done. The add pack in that stuff is amazing!! lol

Bought myself a Merkur adjustable 14 months ago (Father's Day present to me).
Just got 400 Shark blades delivered to my door for $45, and they are a comfortable week, and way better than the $13/10 Wilkinson Sword blades at the supermarket.
I could stretch to longer than a week, but with enough blades to last me well into 2019, a day or two here and there isn't a biggie.

I switched to a safety razor several years ago when the modern cartridge blades started going for more than $1 apiece.
I picked up a Merkur razor for about $5 at a flea market and since then use Derby Extra blades, which I can get for around $0.10/each. I can get about 4 or 5 shaves out of each one, so my most recent box of 200 should last me well into the next decade. Most days, I just use a can of Barbasol and some Old Spice but on the weekends, I'm a big of fan of breaking out the badger brush, puck of soap, and the good aftershave for a very close shave.

I have a couple of the little Feather 3-pc razor kits- a little more agressive than my preferred razor these days, especially when used with the uber-sharp Feather blades. IMO, for a 3-pc double edge razor you just can't beat a *good* old Gillette Tech(one of the fairly heavy, nickle-plated or gold-washed brass versions, not the johnny-come-lately aluminum ones) or a ~1930's vintage Gillette New(with long or short toofies!). My most used razor for the past 2-3 years is an old Canadian-made Gillette New, short-tooth, with the original gold-wash finish worn off down to brass & copper.
If you prefer to twist the tip & open those "silo" doors on a one piece for your DE razor- find a good Gillette Aristocrat. I still have & use my Dad's sometimes. If you are overcome with a love of gadgetry(I confess to it myself sometimes) & must have an adjustable,find a good Gillette Fat Boy.

I had to do that on a ~30-year-old package of Schick coated stainless blades- but they shaved great! Uncoated carbon steel blades, like the old Gillette Blues & Thins- don't bother, those are strictly for nostalgia displays. You do Not want to shave with them, no matter how good they look. Really. (Don't ask why I'm so sure about this!

You'll never find Gillette DE razor blades in retail stores here in the USA since they want the American Public to buy the "Expensive Cartridge Razors" while the rest of the world can enjoy DE shaving.

The Wilkinson Sword DE Blades used to be some great blades....when they were made in England. They were the first blade to come out in stainless steel. The name and equipment was sold off sometime back in the 1980's or 90's and they are now made in Germany. IMO....they are the same as the High Priced Merkur DE razor blades and probably made by Merkur at the same facility. IMO...Merkur makes good DE razors.....but their DE razor blades are as bad as the now made Wilkies.
I had a nice Stash of Vintage Wilkinson Sword blades - with the charge of the "light brigade" on the front along with Persona 74's, Gillette "Spoilers", and Schick Plus Platinum blades that I picked up awhile back at a few clearance centers for next to nothing. Real hard to find NOS that nobody wanted anymore except me...lol. These were all some great DE blades. Occasionally, I run across some real nice DE razor blades at yard sales or they surface at some junk shops....I grab them when I find them if they are still packaged and in good shape.

I shaved for the first time with the Feather stainless this morning. Very heavy and solid feeling razor. It gave me a nice close nick-free shave, but the angle is different from my EJ so I've got to get used to it to find the optimum angle. Overall, I'm impressed.
