Fav cheap beer would be DAB. It is not as cheap as some domestics, but it is much cheaper than the other import options from the area.

And it's actually brewed in Germany. Unlike Beck's now!

Becks is owned by InBev. They have moved Becks production from North America to St.Louis where they brew Budweiser.

Of course, the imported price tag has remained the same.

You must have old stock, because from my understanding, all North American distribution is now coming for the States.

I was taught that St. Louis is in North America already. Is there another one?

I also see the new stuff is 4.8%? The stuff I have is 5%. I'll switch beers if I start getting the American stuff, this is ridiculous.

If you have not tried Dab, give it a go.

Very similar to Becks, a bit cheaper, and made in Germany!

I have, and really like it

I love all Shiner beers and most any other craft beers. Really love Schafly in St. Louis but since moving to Texas that is something I can't have. I have to say my favorite cheap beer is Natty. I have drank enough of that over the years to float a battleship or two. Even now I will have one on occasion. Too bad it's now owned by InBev.

PBR is pretty good, it's definitely my "bar drinking beer" - if I'm at the house just chillin with friends, typically go for the Natural Light or Bud Select

usually i just look for a microbrew pale ale that's on sale.

Are you kidding? Most of the "botique" beers I've tasted have been awful. As in like, spit it out in the sink/grass/campfire awful. I've wasted more money dumping that macabre beer down the drain than I'd like to admit. I've tried a lot of beers, and I'll tell you - most anything above $9 a 6 pack is off-limits to me. You can keep your Goose Berry Island garbage and your Fat Tires and your apple flavored beers. I'll take a Bud 55 and a hot dog.

Honestly, I have to agree. A lot of hipster boutique beers I have tried have been truly horrible. A few were okay, but the majority had too much of the wrong flavors.

Most hipster IPAs taste like garden hose water and dirt. I can't stand them. Others might taste like chewing on a piece of rusty steel, or maybe moldy seat fabric from a Kia Sephia that has been in Pull-A-Part for a year with the windows broken out. No thanks.

I was trying to mentally taste all of your descriptions and I have to say, they're all dead on. Sadly those bottles have met my lips too. The Kia Sephia I had to think about for a bit, but sure enough, it's there.

And some people complain about over-carbonation. Pfft!

I joined a beer forum for roughly 3 days before I got sick of them and left. They called me a troll because I said I enjoyed a Sam Adams from time to time. Heaven forbid. I left there and never returned again!

So what is beer supposed to taste like? Water down swill? See that is my view on ANYTHING from Bud/Bush/Miller with maybe the exception being High Life, I don't mind that so much.

I can't stand that [censored] marketed to the masses through fancy advertising and naked women. I will drink anything once and if I don't like it's because it taste bad to me, not in general.

A local brewer told me something I forgot on a recent tour. "The reason people drink macrobeers ice cold is because they taste horrible warm. So they are lead to believe all beer taste horrible warm. Drink a well made ale and it taste funky when it's ice cold because that is not the temp it was designed to be served at. Drink it after siting out for 5-10 mins and you will certainly be rewarded."

Lionshead & Yuengling are my cheap everyday beers. I can't drink Guinness from a can or bottle because it is just not the same.
