Worst Cheap Beer in America

IPA beer snob here. If imma carbin up it sure won't be any of those watery concoctions.

Now, a long day at the beach playing 🏐 or football.....then plenty of ice cold Miller Light will do! Gotta stay hydrated!

After reading Red Stripe comments it hit me.

Piton beer....worst thing ever. Around 98 I was in St Lucia and Piton (named after some mountains on the island) was the only beer.

I think most prison brew beats most island beers 🍻

Piels Light, which is long gone (AFAIK).

No one has mentioned Colt 45 malt liquor yet either. Schlitz has both beer and malt liquor. If you don't know, malt liquor is to beer what fortified wines are to regular wines.

PBR had a nasty, peppery taste. My dad claimed he knew three guys who drank PBR a lot, and all three died of stomach cancer. He was not joking.

If you ever go to the Caribbean cruise destinations, Red Stripe is much better there as it is much fresher. The citrus that they use in their beer is what makes it unique. When it is no longer fresh it ruins the beer.

I don't get why anyone would call Budweiser anything close to the worst. It's ubiquitous and it's not necessarily as cheap as the other beers mentioned. Talk to most craft brewers and they have a ton of respect for the skills of Anheuser-Busch brewers. They can (and have) made expensive craft-style beers at the same breweries on the same equipment making Bud and Bud Light. In the industry they realize that making such a light-tasting beer means there's less strong flavors to mask any off flavors. Also - the "beechwood aging" isn't about adding wood flavors to the beer like adding oak chips to Chardonnay or aging scotch in old wine barrels (which also adds the taste of the wine). They handed out used beechwood chips to visitors, and they have almost no odor to them. That was intentional. The beechwood gives a surface for yeast to grow.

I've been on the (now closed) public tour of the A-B brewery in Fairfield, California. I saw some more expensive beers being packaged of the brands that A-B bought out.

Colt 45 is one of the better ML's. Schlitz does a Blue Bull, which is OK. I would never consider ML's in the "worst cheap beer" category, but I realize people have the impression they are bad.

The current PBR is really mild and has very little aftertaste. It's kind of complicated, but the owner doesn't have a brewery and it's made for them under contract by MillerCoors.

I wasn't too picky about beer, the real cheap stuff like Schlitz or Laker up here in Canada isn't great. But once you get to the big brands and especially the light versions, I don't think I could tell one from another.
IPA is pretty good in the summer, a good dark Stout is good in the winter, the only ones I don't really like are the cloudy Belgian style with tons of sediment at the bottom. They just taste off to me, but my Dad loves them, maybe because those ones don't disappear? lol

I remember my dad buying this crap back in the 1980s haha 🤣

My parents and grandparents drank it by the case since we lived in Omaha where it was brewed by Falstaff. But it wasn't as good as Falstaff which I always thought was better than most domestic beers in the USofA.
My long gone dad drank it … his old bottle opener

Not cheap beers, but I don't understand why people drink terrible Corona over a Pacifico or Carta Blanca
I also do not understand why people drink Heineken swill over a good Carlsburg or Pilsner Urquell.

Just because something is "popular' or highly advertised doesn't meant its your best choice or even a good choice.

Now Becks here in the U.S. is fake. It was my go too in the 80s while clubbing.
AB InBev ruining beer. The Belgians think you are stupid.

All started when Miller started brewing Lowenbrau in the 70's and ruining it.
Just when my palate was becoming sophisticated at the age of 19 ;)
