Favorite car movie?

A few of my favorites have been mentioned. I'm going to list one more. If you've never seen it (and I bet you haven't), try to see the movie HOT ROD, an ABC made for TV movie from 1979 starring Pernell Roberts and Robert Culp. Years ago, I managed to snag a copy on ebay. It's low budget, somewhat cheesy, but it's got a great story line that involves a shoe-string racer running a hemi-powered Willys against a log of other classic cars from the 60s and 70s.
Two thumbs up!

I enjoyed Mad Max. I have not forgotten the car, not sure of plot if any as I last watched about 30 years ago.

I hasn't seen no mans land since I was probably 6 or 7, I had all but forgotten about that. I saw duel as a kid, I credit that with my fascination for trucks. All the movies mentioned above are some of my favorites though. Can't believe this one hadn't been mentioned yet though... Smokey and the bandit:-) we didn't have cable when I was a kid, so I grew up watching these movies on local TV on Saturdays. I also enjoyed lone wolf mcquaid as a kid, I loved chuck Norris' supercharged ram charger. Man, I could keep going on, this thread brings back so many memories.

Oh, I forgot one, cobra. not so much a "car" movie, but I loved that old merc.

Ron howards new formula one movie " rush " looks like it will be good too.

I also recommend dust to glory to anyone who enjoys the Baja 1000. And "senna" a great documentary on the late formula one driver Ayrton senna.

On a side note, I vaguely remember a show from the 80's when I was a kid that had a detective in it that drove an old 60's stingray Corvette , I think it was even called stingray. Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Is that the one they stole the engine out of the cruiser???

Yea, the crooked cops blew the hemi in the Willys, so the Willys owner (and his cronies) stole a hemi engine from a cop car for a replacement. IIRC, the cops tried to look at the serial motor on the hemi (hey, a made-for-TV movie, remember) but they had etched it off with acid and there went the evidence.

Cool! Somebody else remembers that one. I saw it when it first ran on TV. It also starred Gregg Henry as the saxophone-playing Willy's driver from out of town who was competing against Grant Goodeve as the spoiled rich kid driving the hot Olds Cutlass. I thought the script got the nuts-and-bolts of hot rodding pretty much right.

Maybe any 66-71 B-body.

I had a neighbor in MA who was a statey, they had 440's in the Furys and Coronets, was mad when they down graded to Fords in mid 70's

Gone in 60 seconds.
Cannon Ball Run.
Smokey and the Bandit (if that counts)?

Many of mine have been mentioned already, but The Gumball Rally is my all-time personal favorite car movie. It's a cheesy late-70s movie but the cars are great and the characters are likable.

Also, gotta mention Corvette Summer.
