You know, I was thinking about how unhealthy KFC is until I started looking at the nutritional information of the pieces with the skin off. A breast with the skin off is 150 calories, and with the skin on is 440.

This means that by only eating the skin at KFC, you can reduce the calories 34% while still keeping all the taste of a much loved American icon.

Then I began to think, there are a lot of skinless chicken products sold today in grocery stores such as boneless skinless chicken breasts.

Why not process those skins, batter and fry them, and sell them as a reduced-calorie item at fried chicken restaurants.

All of the delicious with only 2/3 the guilt!

seriously though... KFC is likely the best health food when it comes to a standard fast food chain. With the skin off of course...

I think all that stuff is already used up in hot dogs. But yes, that is a good product to bring to market. I always used to eat the skins first back in the days when I used to eat that junk.

Maybe they can genetically engineer some chickens that have extra skin... giant wattles?

I'll take the hot dogs boiled in Thunderbird and a side of chicken hides. Can I get that to go?

I'd rather have a quarter-pound bacon burger with 2 glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead of bread. And six pounds of onion rings on the side with a gallon of Coca-Cola(made with cane sugar).

If I say KFC to my nine year old daughter she screams. Same with Red Rooster and Kingsleys. So unbelievablydangerous it's not funny. As a noted TV host said about 4 months ago "if you are feeding your kids non organic chicken it's child abuse and you should be charged" D@mn right that!

I agree! Without the skin, KFC's chicken just wouldn't be the same.

Many things are under utilized. Diet choices can be integrated into a total plan for their co-benefits.

(SNL- It's a dessert topping!! No! It's a floor cleaner!! Wait, it's both!

I don't think KFC 4x a year will kill anyone.

That's about my frequency of visiting.

Granny made fried chicken every Sunday. I miss Granny from time to time on Sunday after church.

Yeah, but my aim is getting better, LOL.

She passed about 10 years ago, and lost her mind to Alzhiemers long before that. Occasionally on a Sunday after church, I remember those dinners with her. We didn't have much, but she made the best fried chicken. Or at least I thought it was the best, probably because that's one of the ways she showed us she loved us. fried chicken, mashed potatoes and cole slaw. She made the sweetest creamy coleslaw. I still put sugar in any creamy coleslaw I have because that's the way I learned to like it. I've never developed a craving for vinegar based coleslaw.

And, in an unrelated note, I might visit a KFC about 4x each year. Thinking of chicken reminded me of sitting in her kitchen in the old, running down, turn of the century home that she and granddaddy had. They didn't have much, but still welcomed my sister and me into their home.

Granny raised three generations. Unable to have kids of her own, she ended up raising my grandmother, my mother and then my sister and me.

So I do miss her from time to time. She was more like my mother than my actual mother to me.

Glad to see someone with a sense of humor. And no disrespect towards you grandma, who apparently was one fine lady, was intended anyway.
