beaters are awesome for that reason. i used to have a 40' 220,000LB rated lifting sling that i used for vehicle extraction. Two beaters with un breakable umbilical between them would make for hours of entertainment.
well i had to de-rate the sling to 150,000 lbs cuz the outerjacket was chaffed. that's how i ended up with it for free.
