I am currently running Pennzoil 5W30 conventional and am due for 35K service. Car is always serviced at dealer but I bring in my own oil and watch them do it. My 09 Camry 2GR-FE V6 uses ZERO oil between 5K changes and gets phenomenal gas mileage on 93 Octane premium gas. Oil still looks clean after 5K miles.

Went to O'Reilly's here in Gulf Breeze FL to pick up oil for car and lawn mower. Pennzoil SAE 30 for lawn mower and 5W30 for car were same price: $4.69/qt and Castrol Titanium SN rated was only $5.99 so I thought this may be a good time to switch. Question: has anyone had any good or bad things happen upon changing to EDGE 5W30 such as increase/decrease in gas mileage, oil consumption, or engine noise, etc.? Thanks

I used castrol syntec 5w30 for 3 years on my 2006 camry v6. It was very quiet, no oil consumption, excellent gas mileage.

Now I am start to use chevron supreme SN.. Mpg between syntec and chevron are the same..

Synthetic is useless to me. So I use dino. $1.75 / qt.

No personal experience; but simply observation:

Out of the synthetics at my local WM, the Royal Purple, the Castrol Syntec(s) (well.....there are 2 of them now....lol....sure, let's make it a little bit more complicated...!), and Pennzoil Ultra seem to be about the "most stale" products, stale being, don't move off the shelves.....

Note: That is about the right order too. RP is ALWAYS full (which makes sense, it is like $8.50 a quart, and the avg oil buyer doesn't know what they are really getting)....sometimes the Castrol Edge (Gold bottles, let's call them) are gone, but not too often. More people will buy up the black bottles vs. the gold "Edge" bottles, again, I'm guessing due to the price difference, and the fact that most people don't actually "know" what they are getting with the "different" oil.

Pennz Ultra and Plat move, but not as much as say, the Mobil1's, or the QS (clear bottles = delicious, I love seeing my product BTW, if SOPUS or any "competitor" is reading....lol).

We used Castrol Edge 5w-30 in our 2002 Toyota Avalon which has the 3.0L V-6. It never burned any between changes and ran as smooth as silk. The engine was very quiet and would return 30 mpg on the highway. We have since switched to Pennzoil Platinum as this V-6 is a potential sludger and I felt the high detergency of PP would be a good choice. However, I would not hesitate to use Edge in it again; it is a good oil.

I see you are doing 5000 miles on conventional ... do you want to extend your oil change intervals if you switch to the Edge?

While the bottles on the shelves may be stale at your local WM...since when did you predicate your opinion on quality based on the intelligence and product selections of an average Wal-Mart shopper?

You could go pretty far astray following that crowd...

I have the same engine as you in my 07 RX350. I have run a few different synthetics and have found no discernible changes in noise or mpg. I do push OCI to 6000-7000 miles and never had any usage or extremely dirty oil. I use the OEM paper filter, the dealer sells each kit for about $6.00. I get about 23-24 mpg highway if stay under 80.

Sounds like you've got a real nice car, enjoy!
