~4.5M gigawatts = 135B gallons of gas. How much electricity is lost from the generator to the actual charged up battery?Electric cars are roughly 80% efficient vs 20% for gasoline cars.

Everything but the BMS & Crash avoidance is simple.EV aren't simple.
I believe these issues will be addressed- but yes it will take time.Do you think we will be fully capable in 10 years? Illinois is going short on electricity this summer and hardly any electric cars.. And just how many Gigawatts does it take to replace 135 billion gallon of gasoline? And what about all the oil based chemicals?
135,000,000,000 gallons = 15,390,000,000,000,000 BTU = 4,510,364,400,000 KWHs

There's a lot of drama behind that.I’m still wondering why USPS hasn’t tried to electrify the Grumman LLV?
I call B.S. As electricity is generated and transmitted most of it is lost as heat and other conversion losses long before it reaches it's final destination. My house is natural gas heated, which is vastly cheaper than electric heating!Electric cars are roughly 80% efficient vs 20% for gasoline cars.
Long before that happens the oil companies will have abandoned refining/selling gasoline and diesel for vehicles, there won't be any fuel available for car shows or parades. Or do you think the oil companies will still keep a few refineries open so that a dozen ICE vehicles can do their annual July 4th parades?I think there will come a day when you will need a permit to drive an ICE car and it will be limited to car shows and parades.
50 years from now maybe?
We are talking about recharging a vehicle-and what your pay. If we are leaving out how the power is generated and transmitted ( and the alleged inefficiencies)-since that is difficult for any of us to determine from our local provider, what is left is the cost to "fuel" your tank. Electricity (at his point) is far cheaper. If it remains so-we don't know.I call B.S. Yes-that's a good point. The vast majority of charging will be done off peak. When EVs get charged during off hours who cares what the efficiency is? It’s use it or lose it.
If the US didn’t have its head in its arse it could do like Europe and use power plants to distribute hot distilled water to local areas around the plant.I call B.S. The 'greens' fail to mention we're completely reliant on imports of all our rare-earth minerals from CHINA (the USA has decent reserves domestically but the 'greens' have killed off any domestic mining or refining here in the USA) , much as the 'greens' are out to destroy the USA's fossil fuel industry, so the USA won't have EITHER ICE or EV vehicles! I suppose while Biden in visiting the Saudi's to beg for more oil he can then swing by China and beg them for the rare-earth's for EVs as well. I'm sure that China is totally happy to help the USA in this regard, being the close allies that we are!I hate seeing China kicking our butt in E.V's and Renewables.
you mean at night when the solar panels are dead?Yes-that's a good point. The vast majority of charging will be done off peak.
I think it will be decades before ICE cars are gone. No infrastructure currently for massive conversions to electric.

Until off peak becomes peak because all the load gets shifted.Yes-that's a good point. The vast majority of charging will be done off peak.
