I was a long-time lurker of BITOG, The Sentra in my sig was thoroughly abused for nearly 300,000 miles and this was BEFORE I became an oil freak, I don't even remember what kind of oil I used in this thing (although Castrol GTX stands out), and I sometimes went 8,000 on bulk dino in the mid-west summers and winters, my point is it never had an oil related failure or any major failure for that matter, I sometimes wonder if (I) don't fully realize just how good today's oils really are, even "Dino", The other ironic thing is this car only held 3qts. of oil,

Last car went 330 000 miles over 20 years on original engine. Rust won, and seats wore out, and suspension and cv joints and cracked dash etc etc etc.. engine was stil good...!

I am not trying to sound funny or smart here, and it probably had nothing to do with oil, but how did the Sentra die?

I had a 1991 Sentra.. and I believe that it could have pulled to a higher top speed than my 1986 BMW 325es.

I also had a 1989 240SX. One of the best cars I ever had.

I also got my license on a 1995 Sentra.

Alternators might cost $300, but, Nissan is a good car. (The alternator for my 1991 Sentra cost $300, if bought new. I think I paid $50 or %60 for a used.)

The Sentra didn't die! Nissan gave me an awesome trade on it , the power accessories still worked like new as well (windows, locks, cruise, mirrors..the interior held together just as well as a civic/corolla, if not better..I had an equally impressive 4th gen Maxima.

I'm on my third Nissan Z. Never once have worn one out. Just got bored with them and sold them to get a newer one. My 280Z and 300ZX Z31 turbo always used either GTX or Syntec Blend. My current one has had everything under the sun haha.
