Ester based motorcycle oil

HOw old is this 20 years?

5w30 mobil 1 car oil in todays world. Just saw one dated 2018 at 900 ppm calcium.

all those numbers I bet are way off in todays world.
This is why I blocked this guys posts. He's literally been posting the same 20 year old oil analaysis. It contributes nothing to the conversations, unfortunately.

LSPI is just a fancy phrase for detonation. Its particular to gm because their engines come with blowby and the pcv system puts those fuels and oil into the intake tract. We dealt witi detonation twenty years ago with race engines that were built loose to take the shock of three stages of nitrous on 706 big block engines. My Toyotas dont use a drop of oil between changes, but japanese engines are built tight and right.
No, it is not. Detonation, pre-ignition pinging and LSPI are three distinct phenomenon and have three distinct possible mitigations.

But I will say that LSPI is definitely the topic du jour and somewhat of a boogeyman.

In boosted engines, there's a difference putting out max torque at 1,500 to 2,000 RPM versus naturally aspirated. This is LSPI, not good old fashioned knocking and pinging and whatever words we choose based on 30 years ago. It's caused by particles left in the combustion chamber. Those particles are made up of additive packages of oil and it has been known to be that for quite a while with respect to most low speed pre ignition discussions and the cause.

It's easy to go down a rabbit hole, I apologize. LSPI isn't a concern in the motorcycle world. I was responding with respect to the fact modern oils have lower calcium to address LSPI and therefore the sample in question is ridiculously outdated.
