Revving an engine to warm it up faster is not smart for many reasons.
For long engine live keep the rev's as low as possible and let the engine warm up at it's own rate. And if you ask your engine, she'll (they're all female or no?) request that you not turn on the heater (yes to the defroster but only if necessary) until the coolant is at least half way to normal. This will noticeable shorten the time it takes for the coolant to get up to temp'.
And if you have an oil pressure gauge, always keep the rev's below the oil pump by-pass point during the warming up process.
