Understand.
But...
Without the before and after photos (and your engine is VERY clean) we really can't tell if it was this oil or what kept it in its current condition.
Your "slight" vs little to none is subject to light and such. We also know that varnish really does not matter (we have seen engines with Mobil 1 or Amsoil that have it) to how long a engine lasts.
Sludge is bad.
Before and after photos are always better. The latest motor that I have had apart was the Taurus and both at 61k and then again @ 108k it was spotless on the heads and block. And its first 21k miles it was a rent-a-car so who knows what Hertz did for it.
It had 122,000 miles on it at the time of the picture. I think I took this in early 2007. It was run on a steady diet of dealership bulk 5w30 with 5k/6mo. oil changes since it was new in 1994. Next time I pull the valve cover I'll take pics again. I've run ARX twice since this picture was taken and I don't know if it made any difference. There's hardly any varnish as it is though, so I'm not very concerned. Bill, where's all my sludge from running dino for 13 years?
I was under the impression that he was referring to Calvin's valvetrain but even he admitted the first 70k was on conventional as well, and it looks nice and clean.

Then he needs to say so..
Yours looks fine also. But thanks for the before photo!
