2016 Cmax engine splash shield. The one on there is some kind of felt like material that is drooping. Surprised to find several online and not very expensive. Carid lists 3 from $43 to $65. The more expensive are CAPA certified. What's that? At that price range I am not trying to save money, just want something that will last. Any better brands?

I would go with OE (about $65), aftermarket are often flimsy or fit poorly. CAPA will be dimensionally correct but possibly not the same quality of materials.

Yeah the Ford OEM is flimsy felt material. Was replaced by Ford about 2 years ago, so don't want to pay premium price for junk. Hard plastic would be desirable. We will see if hard plastic goes south before OEM felt.

Checking the condition of these engine splash shields OR wheel-well liners is very important and should be part of regular maintenance.
Especially in the rustbelt.

I see some cars (Ford Escape) have an issue with rust above the rear shocks.
I've been coating my shock areas with cosmoline.
