Not to take anything away from Buster's new truck, but that nissan is awesome! And a first year truck too!! I think they could get an additional 30lbs of torque out of that engine to completely dominate the half-ton market. Imagine that, pushing 400lb feet of torque from a gasoline engine. I'll say it again....the big three better take notice or they won't be the big three anymore (especially when Toyota's new big V-8 hits the market).

The Nissan is awesome. I like them all. Wish I had enough money to buy all of them.

No kidding. Id take them all too. I have a Tundra regcab V6 now. My next will probably be a Titan or Tundra DC. Maybe a ford. Possibly a Chevy if they come out with a new model that actually has modern engineering.

Ford added the extra valve to the 5.4L, why didnt they add VVT and get the horses up to 350?

You can't go wrong with any truck now IMO. They are all so good. In fact, Dodge I'm more skeptical of then any in terms of quality but so far I'm impressed with how it's built. Knock on wood. Ford's are built well but I'm not a fan of their engines. If Chevy didn't screw up the front of the Silverado that would have been a serious choice I would have considered.

I test drove the Ford, Dodge and Nissan. I did not consider Chevy due to past bad experiences with GM products. I didn't consider Toyota due to the meager size and engine, and previous bad experience with Toyota dealers (very crooked in Texas due to distributor adds).

Only the F150 and Titan were competitors. The Dodge does not have a backseat anything like them, so it was eliminated. One of the reasons that I was trading in my 2000 F150 Supercab was that I wanted a usable back seat. The Dodge could have been a competitor, the 4.7 with the 5 speed auto is pretty peppy as compared to other manufacturers' base engines. The Dodge also had the most powerful brakes of any of the full size trucks. And they are discounting them up to 11,000 at the local Dodge dealer. But the backseat was the killer for it. Time to stretch the cab another 6 inches, then it would have been a player in my full size truck comparison.

I had driven several F150s and made email contact with about every Ford dealer in the area. I had a deal worked out for an F150 at 500 under invoice, plus 1021 discount for the Tow and Go (5.4, Limited slip, tow package) and 4000 in rebates. Would have been 22,600 walkout on a truck that retailed at 31,755. But it was fire engine red. So I decided to think about it. I really did like the way the Ford drove, but the engine didn't quite feel like 300HP.

So I drove the Titan. The rest is history. It's in my driveway now! What a hot rod. I have a base model (XE) 4 door and I picked it up for invoice minus the 2000 rebate, so a total of 22,400. About the same as the Ford, and about the same amount of options. Ironically I got a free interior upgrade because they could not find the key of the truck that I had negiotiated on, so they asked me if I wanted to take the one I had test drove and I said sure! So it pretty much had all the same options as the Ford XLT level, save for power mirrors. But I wasn't going to go up to the next level (SE) just for that.

Congrats!

It's a nice truck. You can't go wrong with any of them IMO. My father in-law has an F-150 Lariat. I agree it doesn't feel like 300HP. Other then that, the Ford is top notch IMO as far as build quality/fit and finish. Toyota needs to upgrade and make the Tundra bigger and more powerfull. For $23k, I couldn't turn down the 345HP Hemi. For me, thats what it's all about. I have a sport truck though and don't tow or haul much.

I think the Titan is quite a sport truck! I wasn't expecting it, but hey I am thrilled. This engine has got to be closer to the Hemi Ram in horsepower as opposed to what it's really rated. Nissan definitely underrated it.

Wait until Dodge starts offering the 6.1L Hemi with 425 HP and 420ft/lbs. You'll see it in the SRT 300C and the 2005/2006 SRT8 Grand Cherokee and most likely an option in the 7 passenger Grand Cherokee (Grand Wagoneer?) in 2006.

Considering that the Titan was designed and built in the US, and equipped with a US built engine and transmission, the only thing Japanese on the truck is the name "Nissan".

Tundras and Sequoias and Siennas are all built in indiana with only a japanese engine and transmission I think. Im pretty sure my 3.4L was still made in Japan, but Im 100% sure the 4.7L V8 is. Still, having been assembled in the US, I tend to think of it as a Do-Japan-estic

I sort of understand when people say "buy American" but I wonder if it really helps that much. I mean, Toyota has been making cars for GM (and vice versa) for 20 years (novas, prizms, vibes, etc). Who is really making the money off of these? I know a factory worker in Indiana has a job because I happened to get a better deal on a Tundra than a Silverado (at that time anyway), so should I really feel guilty about not buying American? I do have a chevy and my family has many GMs and fords...and a prizm and other toyotas. I dont know what to think anymore.

The titan transmission is built in japan and shiped herre to be installed. Other than that its mostly american.
