Well it'll really pop your cork to know I've got STP 5W-40 in the 911 right now. And an STP ML can on it!

I guess one anecdote is all the evidence anyone needs, right? Where do you want your swill sent?

It is my experience, in addition that that 5W40 does not meet MB229.5 like 0W40.
As for STP, it is your car. I had Optima 5W30 504.00/507.00 that I worked on development in my car. By all means unremarkable oil. Car made more then 300k.
However, we are talking here about the fact that there are better oils readily available.
In the end of the day, one can run olive oil, it is their car.
