Hi all.

Just realized I Can get EBC sportsbrakes for my car a bit cheaper then the oem standard brakes.

The pads are EBC greensruff and the discs either EBC turbogroove or EBC ultimax.

Does anyone here have experience with how they work for just everyday driving. How is the cold braking, is there any warm-up time?

Have a nice weekend.

Green is the first step over stock should act like stock brakes maybe a little better. I would use them. Should not have the issues of track pads on the street.

The question here is: do you really need the grooved or slotted brake discs?

To be honest you can save even more with the ebc upr (I was impressed with the build quality) and I don't think you can feel a performance difference outside the track.

I Don,t need the ekstre bite they offer. The reason i look at them is that they should dust less then other brake pads. With I would really like since my rims are a pain to clean.

I have EBC Greenstuff Truck/SUV pads (It hink the 7000 series) on my Ranger. During the break-in period, they squeal really bad and really loud. EBC says that's normal, and I guess it is because they don't squeal at all once they're broken in. But they take a LONG time to break in. I think mine took almost a month before they finally stopped squealing. And yes, I used the anti-squeal stuff on the back of the pads. They also produced a ton of dust during the break-in period. It's not so bad now.

Braking performance is good. I'm not sure I'd use them again though. I put a set of Hawk HPS pads on my Accord, and those pads are awesome! Those are now my first choice for pads.

I like ceramic pads for normal eveyday replacement pads. Low(if any) noise & dust! No breakin period and perform well in all temps and stopping feels normal the way we're used to. Unless you want/need more, ceramic pads have taken out all of the other bad things that I didn't like in other types of brakes. Such as noise, dust, poor wet braking and brakes that act differently in hot/cold...etc.

I looked at greenstuff but went for Akebono's instead. Greenstuff is not ceramic its some organic material if im not mistaken. Ceramic will put out far less dust and reviews are mixed on the greenstuff.

The EBC Greenstuff is made for daily driving, My brother installed them together with EBC discs on his Volvo V70. For heavy cars they just dont seem to work, From what i have seen on some forums EBC did not recommend them for cars heavier than 1200kg and thats maybe why they lasted 1 year on the V70.
My opinion is that they are [censored], I would rather buy ATE cermaic or similar quality brand.

I see that you are a neighbour in Denmark :-)
Check this German company they have very good prices on ATE, Use google chrome to translate the website to english http://www.profiteile.de/

Hi neighbor :-)

Sounds like I will stay away from the EBC brakes. I will check out that webside. But I was wondering if I coult save some money buying parts in Sweden. I have a few coworkers who live in malmö and helsingborg who could pick it up and spare me the bridge.

What do you think?

Have a nice weekend :-)

I always buy my carparts in Germany since its about 50% cheaper than to buy them in sweden and the shipping is only about 150 DKK.
Same with NGK sparkplugs, They cost 25% of what they cost in sweden so i can get 4 NGK Iridium for the price of 1 if i order them from a company in UK.
Castrol is also dirtcheap if buy it from www.mapodo.de 75% cheaper than in sweden.
Inside EU there is also no import tax.
Let me know which car you have and i can help you to find the brakes on that german website.

It is very nice of you. I can still remember some of my school German, and the webside is pretty easy to navigate. And they really are really cheap

Thanks a lot :-)

Yep I do maintain my car myself. Actually I am a truck mechanic at a scania workshop. If the work is there I make AT transmissions aswell.

For some reason I prefer OEM filters, Wich here cost the same as a good non OEM. The oil I use is valvoline synpower.

Have you used profiteile.De more than ones? and have you experienced any problems with them?

Have ordered carparts from them several times but i have never had any problems with my orders. They have usually shipped after 2-3 days.

Sounds good. I think I will try them. I will rather use ATE then NK or triscan Wich here are actually about 400 dkr more.

Over the years, I have used Greenstuff, Redstuff, and Yellow stuff on my various cars.

I used Greenstuff on a 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 S, and I thought they were really good.
There still was dust, but it wasn't as bad as the OEM pads.

I have used Redstuff on a 2001 PT Cruiser and a 2008 Chrysler Crossfire.
These are ceramic based pads, and they squeal a whole lot until they finally break in.
The dust is light in color, and usually doesn't get noticed.
This might truly be what you are looking for.

I have used Yellowstuff on a 2011 Mazda RX-8.
These are not the pads you are looking for.
They work REALLY well, but dark dust like crazy, and they do lose friction as they cool off, so you would need to remember to pull your parking brake really tight when you park the car on a hill, if your parking brake uses the actual brake pads to hold the car, like on most Mazdas with rear discs.

I will continue to use EBC products, as I love their lineup, and they always have something to meet the demands of each individual user, or each application of a user, like in my cases.

BC.
