OK, it's been almost 2 full months that I tried the "NEW" Eagle 1 Gel Wax on both my car and my wife's SUV.

We have had so much rain since my first post(4-4-11) that I really haven't had time to focus on washing the cars as I have been trying to get the yard/landscaping and outside of the house in shape for summer. Or even on a sunny Sat/Sun, we just had other things to do.

Even if I thought about washing the cars because there was some sun outside, there was always a huge black cloud in the distance and comming my way in a matter of 30 minutes.

Anyway, after 2 months of rainy days, there was a fine layer of light grime on the surfaces of the vehicles but, after another rain storm ended I had noticed no water beading on either car. Nothing, just sheeting! Leads me to beleive that the product did not hold up during the cool rainy days. It was never warm/hot outside. Now, we're gettig warm temps since the Memorial Day Weekend.

So, I washed my car and dried it. It looked great all by itself before applying any product. But, before I dried the car, I shot the garden hose water in the air so that the water came down eminating rain drops...No water beading at all. Nothing!

I used some of that green Turtle Wax Car Wash Soap. So, at least I did use some car wash soap product that doesn't have any silicone in it as to add a "water beading finish" to the paint. This way I could judge the Eagle 1 Gel Wax durability after a good washing.

Well folks, the E1GW doesn't really have any duribility for 2 months. Although, it does leave the rain water beading after about 3 weeks. This I know because I just did my daughters car 3 weeks ago when she came home from Buffalo and again this past Memorial Day Weekend. It was again raining apon her arrival and the rain water was beading on her car. Not great but, it was beading water. She put together my new gas grill(a 4-5 hour job) and I washed/waxed/vacuumed her car and changed the oil/filter. A deal I couldn't pass up!

Ya see, I usually don't wash my cars every 2 months. More like every week or two so, I would never really know that a product did or didn't hold up. Also, as I have mentioned in other posts, I like to apply some type of product on the paint after each washing. It's quick and easy to do and the vehicle always looks polsihed. I'll still keep using E1GW cause I have 3 bottles that I bought, 3/$10 @ AAP and had a coupon also.

I typically like the quick detail products as they are a WIPE ON product...That's it, DONE! No polishing, just wipe on and leave it. The E1GW is only a bit more elbow grease to polish off. No biggie! And the E1GW leaves NO white wax residue in scratches/stone chips, which I love. Another thing that I do like about the E1GW is that the paint feels just "Clayed" as compared to other products(really smooth) so, that's a PLUS.

Even thought the E1GW doesn't seem(seem) to last very long(IMHO), it does have some nice benefits:

*It's not real hard to use and certainly faster than real waxing.
*Make the paint feel really smooth w/great shine
*Affordable and smells nice but, attracts bees.
*It's one of the few products that I have used in recent years that really makes the paint "noticably" shinny('er) after it sets up/cures...Again, IMHO!

True waxes that contain carnauba like the Eagle 1 Gel Wax typically last about 4-6 weeks if that. The exception is the Collinite line of waxes. You got a super buy on the Eagle 1 and know the shortcomings of it so use it in good health. It is typical for a carnauba but easier to use and that's a huge plus, just wipe it on and wipe it off immediately. Sure can't get much easier than that.

Thank you for your reply and carnuba information.

I guess that 4-6 weeks is about all we'll get out of the E1GW and as you mentioned, I do like it!

I agree with your evaluation of E1GW. Washed the car only once since using it, but there wasn't much beading several weeks later.

On the plus side, I liked the smell, no powdery residue, and the fact that it doesn't leave white on the black rubber trim.

But, for the cost of a stamp (FAR), it was certainly worth a try.

I can't wait to try E1GW on my black Firebird. Water beading longevity won't be an issue with this car as it's always in the garage.

Every regular wax/silicone product(those dry to a haze types) that I ever used over the past years always showed streakes on the paint after removal, causing me to give the paint extra attention and more wiping after waxing. Even some of the quick detail products that I love so much cause me to pour in extra time to remove the streaks, which is the whole reason that I started using these quick detail products in the first place.

Black is, what it is; unforgiving. Then all of this wiping causes lots of static and attracts more dust. Love the California Duster for this purpose.
