Drain pan plug washer/gasket

Anyone use the clear nylon ones over the oe coated steel ones? Any real difference anything to watch out for?

the only ones I head leak were the blue nylon ones.

The fiber covered metal crush washers never had a problem with those.

Unless it's my only option, I never use those. For 14mm size threads, I use aluminum crush washers and for 12mm, I use the Toyota coated ones. Where the original had a captured rubber seal under the head, that's what I use. All other situations, I use the steel washer style with the rubber seal inside.

The blue ribbed ones look like a possible leak. I would think oe torque specs need to be lower if using nylon in place of steel?

I got some fiber ones off ebay that would compress over time and mileage. Drain plug torque was shockingly loose after 1000 miles. Never again.

The oil drain plug crush washers on my cars look to be aluminum…
