anyone got any info on donaldson oil filters, as far as how they rate out versus pure one, mobil 1, baldwin???

It depends on whether its a synthetic version of the filter versus cellulose. However, donaldson is one of the very best brands around.
I have started using their syntec version of the fl1a filter. p169071. suppposed to filter down to 7microns nominal, 20 absolute with 14gpm flow.
I cut one apart and its very high build quality.
I can say that at 4000 miles on my oil, this filter has kept the oil looking new. I plan on changing the oil at 7k and doing a uoa.
Using mobil 1 10-30 and mobil 1 filter oil was dirty at 3000 miles. Was never brave enough with that oil to go much beyond 3k.
they are about the same as a mobil 1 filter as to price. I did get lucky and caught a case on ebay for $45 though...
I use the delo synthetic 5w-40.

Amsoil site sponsors, can a person get the "endurance synteq media" oil filters for automotive applications ?
If so can you price them for us. A highly valued oil analysis customer said he saw them at the Amsoil warehouse today in Dallas and was wanting to get a price from you fellas first.

Donaldson is the leading heavy duty air filter supplier to the Trucking, Bus, and heavy equipment OEM's.
In the beginning Champion made 95% of Donaldson "wet" filters. These were oil, fuel, and coolant filters for trucks and automotive. I think it's down to 50-60% of their product line now.
Donaldson has a plant in Minnesota where they now manufacture their own top selling heavy duty filters. They also use a plant in Mexico to produce some of their "smaller" diameter can sizes.
I suspect that the majority of their automotive offerings are made by Champ besides some of the slower moving heavy duty part numbers. The P16-9071 would either be a Donaldson made product or they supplied the element to Champ to can for them. (Dan4510..does the backplate have AA stamped into it somewhere between the inlet holes?)

At the present time, to the best of my knowledge, Donaldson does not have automotive filters with the Endurance filter media--except for one that fits the Cummins diesel.
Will they adapt the material to auto filters in the future? Maybe the Shadow knows! However, it wouldn't surprise me that we might see something within the next year.

I've just purchased some P169071 filters, (synthetic media version, or in Donaldson speak "high efficiency" version of the Donaldson P550008 and Motorcraft AFL1) and can definately state they aren't made/assembled by Donaldson.
BTW, all Donaldsons have a date stamp on the box, and these are 03/02, so are 2.5 years old. Things may have changed since these were made.
Donaldson possibly/probably supply the media, but the base plate and centre tube are definately not Donaldson manufactured, with the centre tube having holes, not punched perforations, and the base plate being of conventional design and not the traditional Donaldson inverted base plate arrangement.
