Dominios Pizza is NOW Gross

Garbage.

My wife makes the best pizza. Ever. Even if we doesn't always make the dough from scratch we buy the dough from Trader Joe's. Tasty. Only problem is waiting for it to cool enough to cut. Sometimes I cook it in the grill, other times on the stone in the oven. Most times we each make our own to our own specifications, for the kids the topping are all set up, just like taco night.

There are a ton of pizza places out there to stick with one. we had roma's pizza last week and just had snappy tomato pizza today. Papa murphy's a few weeks ago. I know, I'm eating junk.

Dominoes has been nasty for awhile. Meaning ever.

There's a little pizza joint not far from here that serves them New York style. That is, in very, very large slices. I really like their potato soup, too. Usually the wife and I order a cup of potato soup and a slice of thin crust pepperoni. We use the soup for dipping rather than eating. Sounds weird, but it is delicious.

If I'm going for everyday regular pizza, I'll usually go with Double Dave's buffet, which is outstanding, or Little Ceasar's $5 large pepperoni. The little ceasar pizza is totally decent and a fine deal at just $5.

I went to a local Pizza Inn a few years ago here in TN when I got a crave for Pizza. In NH the local PH had quite good food, I thought, but this local TN one was the pits. Tasted like cardboard with ketchup on top, with outdated vegetables and Cheez Wiz. That was by far the worst pizza I had ever had. I could have made a better one with a Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee box pizza.

These days I prefer to buy organic Amy's Pizza and top it with fried garlic, onions, olives, and EVOO, or make my own from scratch.

I like to avoid enriched foods. Most pizza shops use enriched flour and other generic ingredients, even though they may taste good..

How do you make sure that the pizza doesn't go through the grill grates?

Yup, that and Frank's Pizza in Oakland NJ(only one I like). Their Garden Salad Pizza is a slice of heaven if you want something truly out of the ordinary or Luigi's in Ringwood/Wanaque.

But I've been hitting up Brother Bruno's since I was 6(23 years) and most of those guys there still remember me after years of not being there and never have I been disappointed. My brothers friend owned Cousin Bruno's in Pompton Lakes/Plains and was good as well but nothing beats the original.

Pay a bit more for real Pizza, the mass produced Pizza cannot compare to the real deal.

So is every other mass produced slop covered crust that claims to be pizza.

If you ever want a real pizza make it with real, quality ingredients including real mozzarella cheese. The fake shredded stuff that gets passed off as mozzarella is about as appealing as melted plastic.

I just had some two nights ago and it was better than it used to be but there are many out there I like better and would never buy this stuff.

All they did was add a boatload of spice: oregano, thyme, basil, cayenne, and drizzle some oil on the crust. Too much! I liked the "hand tossed" OK before - and not so much now. They had a "Wacky Wednesday" deal up here - 1 medium pie for $5.50 which fit my once "jobless' budget as a 1x per week treat - plus I got to know the owner "Bill" pretty well - nice guy! If one does not want a "card board tasting" crust, I always ask for wax paper or parchment under the hot pie. If most any pie has been out of the oven and in a thick cardboard box for more than a 1/2 hour before being eaten, it wont be too good regardless.

There are no good Italian places near me anymore

A lot of Greek though (Brothers or Steve's) from there I prefer the Meat Pie. We had an Original Pizzeria Regina from the North End of Beantown and that was best. Our 3 Pizza Hut's near me closed down. Papa Ginos is just fair and Mama Lena's is fair to good depending if the owner/cook or 7 buck and hour teenyboppers are making the pie.

OH yeah, I had some of this new Dominos pizza a few weeks ago and it was gross. I ate less than two pieces of it and called it quits. I do not remember their older version being this bad.

DIY pizza is way too easy to make to waste money on boxed or delivered. Frozen bread dough and diced toppings from the grocery freezer, some cheese and sauce and you have a better pizza than anyone else can make. No more skimping on toppings. Go ahead and spend another nickle on triple onions. The quality only goes up from there.

I no longer eat pizza but when I did I did this once and lost interest in commercial pizza.
