Its much easier space wise to keep the extra single quart in my car after an oil change. The problem is the price difference is huge.

Has anyone successfully had WM price match the single quarts?

FWIW I successfully returned quarts I bought from o'reilly's to walmart so the upc's are usually the same. This should work in your favor for a price match.

after reading that again.

1.You mean price match it to other peoples quarts or
2.price match 5 qts vs a 5qt jug.

yes to the first one(if advertised) and no to the second one.

Of course most of the oil deals(at aap/az etc) includes filters that walmart doesnt carry so YMMV

Does your car burn so much oil that you can't just check it at home and top up there?

I understand if you travel for a living....

So do you want a quart to be 1/5 the price of a 5 qt jug, to the penny?

Do what's mentioned above, refill a quart bottle.

I think the biggest price matching conundrum would be trying to do it to a "5 qt plus filter oil change deal" and/or lining up the brands to match exactly.

Note, parts stores that aren't WM carry 5.1 qt jugs so there will be no cross price matching there.

Since you only have to keep a single QT in a car and you probably only have 1 or 2 cars, I cannot see this being a big issue. Either use an empty QT container or buy a new one that's sealed and keep it in the car.

Sorry about if my question was confusing. I wanted to see if walmart would sell me 5 individual quarts for the same price as the 5 quart jug.

My car only takes 4 quarts and there's a little cubby hole in the hatch area that it fits in perfectly so I can always have it in the car for emergencies.

Didn't think about putting in a used quart contantainer, I guess I'll do that.

My Jeep takes 6 QT. Maybe you would like to give me the extra QT with each oil change?

Never......It is two different products. You are getting bulk discount in 5qt but paying for convience of 1qt and its shelf "rent" for 5 individual quarts.

There cost on individual quarts is higher than 5 quart bulk packages, so why should they sell it to you at that price?

No they won't do that the cost on the quarts is higher thus the different prices.

If you want quarts take advantage of auto parts stores OCI specials, most of them offer the same special on jugs OR 5 single quarts, your choice.

A $15 price difference between a 5 quart jug and 5 individual bottles? C'mon now...

I don't think an extra quart will be sufficient for your jeep

That's like picking up two 1/2 gal milk jugs and asking them to sell it to you for the price of a single 1 gal jug. Not gonna happen, IMO.
