Does this look like a new part or a return

I just received these brake pads for my car from our favorite shipper haha. I am pretty sure they are returned but wanted to get a consensus here before I send them back. There is some Scotch tape on them and it looks like the remnants of an old shipping label in the corner of one of the package pictures.

I hear what you’re saying, but I’m doing the brakes next month and it will be past my return time and quite honestly who knows what they put back in the box if it’s got all the bolts and stuff

So open the box and see what you have. If not satisfied, tape it back up and return it.

Depending on which depot has the part, Ford will ship parts to us on FedEx instead of cross shipping via a DDS. We get some brake pads, especially newer Super Duty ones, where the boxes have been FedExecuted and taped back together by someone with stock in 3M. Usually there will be 3 pads in the box when they look like that. Our normal FedEx driver will mark the package damaged for us when he drops them off, any fill-in drivers to the dump and run move.

I sent them back. I wasn't doing the job till next month and didn't want to deal with any issues. Besides I am not accustomed to buying new parts that look like seconds.

Yeah but you don't know that. Since the box was not opened.

Besides with brake pads I don't think I'll ever get them any place other than auto parts stores.
You can look at them before you walk out the door with them. And if they won't work its just a take them back deal, not trying to mail them back.
