Does this even sound remotely legal/ethical?

Man everytime I curse they're up my butt about it. Call my mother gullible to my face and im likely to snuff out your lights.
I don't understand.. here is the definition.. you pretty much described it but if someone says it to you in person... you would kill them?

I think this thread got confused real fast by the initial info not being sufficient.

A used chevy from a kia dealer that offers a dealer "warranty" that requires work to be done at that dealer.. This in itself is pretty common at scumbag dealers and 1 step away from a scam.. Typically they would have a set of crooked calipers to show you your brakes are worn out.. when they arent etc. To milk you for more $$$.

She's very disabled, shes deaf, blind in one eye, can't talk and when texting me she gets very confused when I begin asking questions. Honestly it seems to get worse with age.
What state DMV allows one to operate a car given those factors? I have family members who have relatives with similar issues and they reluctantly took steps have the DMV revoke a drivers license.

Sad but true, you must do the right thing.

“………Car dealers are not in the business of doing mental acuity tests of their customer. If the credit score comes back good, they send it.”

Car dealers are not in the business of doing mental acuity or ethics exams of their salespeople and service writers, either.

That’s why these issues arise.

We got the oil changed today at the Toyota dealer. Same network, oil change was free, we got the tires rotated. She can't find her contract so I'm taking her back to said Kia dealer to get a copy of it. I'm trying to decide to confront or not once I see the terms and interest.

I just know my ex rolled off a mazda dealer lot for $500 a month with poor credit and no down payment. 2022 CX5 in July of 22. Something doesn't make sense, my mom had good credit, no down payment and got a car 3 years old and is still paying around the same amount.

You need to know the loan term length in order to properly compare the final costs. A monthly payment alone is not a good indication of anything.

Well my mom is on the hook for this one. Just talked to another aunt who says she told her out was poor terms for the loan. 500+ a month. I'm done with it.

Many years ago I was looking for a square body Yukon or Tahoe, used. Saw one at a dealer with 399 a month across the front window. I stopped in and asked how much for the Yukon. Guy replies 399 a month. I said how many months? Guy says what's your credit like? I ask how much is the truck? Guy said something like depends how many months you have to pay for it. I said Bye and left.

There's a MB dealer in SW Florida that tells every customer that they need motor mounts. Except for the new ones, wonder how many motor mounts have been installed unnecessarily. A local indy MB shop told me that. They also told me that if you needed mounts you would definitely know it.

In that case, you (or some family member with her best interests at heart) needs to get involved in her day-to-day care. Or get her into a facility that can and will take care of her. It's a very difficult road ahead, but as her Son you are morally obligated to help. IMO.

She's capable of living on her own.

I think this applies, however she is paying for a warranty. A few weeks waiting of a oil change is really a moot point I feel. If it was a repair that caused her to be without the vehicle than that would be real bad. I would see if the warranty is transferable to another dealer.

I have heard this more and more these days, having to make an appointment for everything. Since covid!! it was bad before, Trust me I know. No one wants to work and surely not hard. People have found ways to collect money from the government and system without lifting a finger to help themselves. They play the system like a favorite tune. Years perfected and now more have learned how.

The bottom line truth

So a few months back my mom purchased a 2021 Chevy Equinox with the 1.5l turbo motor. My mother is mentally handicapped and deaf but is still able to drive. I would've gone with her to purchase the vehicle but she was insistent it was done on her time. This dealer got her to agree to 500 dollars a month for got knows how long.

She is due for an oil change. I called the dealer and was told they're booked up for 3 weeks. So I started calling other shops and pricing synthetic oil changes, but decided to see if the dealer would allow it. I was told under no circumstances is anyone else allowed to work on the car or they'll void the warranty.

I'm frigging PO'd. Is this legal or ethical?
If the manufacturer provides the service for free they can specify only the dealer does the work and uses OEM parts.

If it's not free then anyone can do the work as long as they use parts that meet the manufacturers specs.

Yeah. I know. But my mom probably never read any of that and now she's on the hook for dealer priced repairs or void the warranty. She can't afford an 800 dollar brake job.
She probably cannot afford the $40 mandatory oil filter plus labor to change it ( not included in free oil change). Or the mandatory $30 mandatory air filter + labor, or the mandatory cabin air filter...You get my drift?
