While at Walmart this last weekend I took a stroll down the oil aisle, like many of us do. I haven't used PYB in years, but I picked up a bottle and it said something to the effect of "45% of all drivers perceive their car runs better" on PYB.

Has anyone here or does anyone here perceive their car/truck runs better on it? I'm curious here. Sometimes you can find good deals on PYB. And does anyone get the same or less peceived engine improvement from Quaker State? There are often good deals on QS around here too. Personally, I have been using Valvoline or Napa dino for a long time.

I am talking about PYB and QS dino oil here. I'm curious about it, I know lots of BITOG'ers swear by PYB.

"perceive "?

I've yet to notice a difference between brands.

When I notice a difference is in cleanliness of oil after a few thousand K, and i DO notice a difference in engine noise with thinner oils presumably as they shear, nearer the end of the OCI.

Other than that, fresh oil, even for a few months, brand's never made a difference..

I did find GTX got pitch black faster than any other brand of oil.

The crazy stuff you hear in walmart...

toyota "OEM" 10w-30 seems to make my motor run louder and a bit rougher. smoothest is on M1 10w-30... middle ground is durablend.

No first Rune's are little stones with Druid or Celtic letering on them I think. They are often used to fortell the future and things like that!

As to making a car run better no oil is going to make a car run drastically better. Proper maintenance and sound mechanical shape combined with good design and materials is what makes an engine run well!So if your engine is not running well nothing in a bottle is going to make it run better fix what ever is wrong then worry about oil!

x2

Pennzoil HM ran smoother & better acceleration & MPG when compared to Max-life...again I have NEVER been a Valvoline man...they have just turned into a big marketing firm and not an oil blender LOL

Yeah and I perceive my truck runs better after I wash it. You should feel the perceived difference after I wax it!!!

I am going to say PYB does not make your car run any better than any other quality oil.

45% seems about right ... if comparing PYB to no oil whatsoever!

At first I was trying to find a joke in there somewhere, but after thinking about it, I have to wonder how many people would notice anything amiss if their engine ran out completely! (Up to the point that the car died.)

I suspect any new oil will make the engine sound quieter and run more smoothly than it did running the old, possible sheared, fully warmed oil.

Ding ding ding... I bet tasty fresh-out-of-the-bottle viscosity improvement over the sheared down used oil may likely be a factor in perception of engine smoothness or 'running better'.

Does that count?

I've had that reaction after every oil change I've done or had performed over 33 years of driving. It's in the same class as the notion I have that my can runs more smoothly and happily when it's clean. . . .

I can tell you this about the pennzoil, after I got my RX 330 I first used Mobil-1 0W-30 AFE.Only for a short oci (to sort of gently clean out the motor)Then I decided to just go with PYB due to all of the great reviews about it on here.I have noticed the motor is smoother on the pyb although it did have more torque according to the butt dino on the afe.Honestly,I think I`m just going to stay with the YB,the other owner had all service done at the Lexus dealer, and they dont use synthetic.
