My 2015 Juke has about 800 on it and I've got the same debate going. My problem being that I've got multiple used oil analysis from my 2013 Juke, and the thing just rips up oil. Fortunately, as some here have pointed out, while the oil sheared fast and hard, wear metals were itty bitty registering on near nonexistent, no fuel dilution to speak of, everything else was good to go green.
Have 4 free oil changes from the dealer to go with it, will probably ignore them because I don't think I want the 5w30 castrol bulk they've throw into this motor. Fine for something port injected like my Altima maybe, but not this little motor.
Current thought is swap out the FF (I expect it to be 0w-20, and have a used oil analysis of factory fill from a 2015 Altima to test to see) at around 1000-1500 with some Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 I've got laying around, run that for another 1500 miles or so to get to 3000, then throw in Pennzoil Ultra 10w30 for this summer. Swap back over to Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 for winter although I've got a bunch of Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 and 2 fills of Mobil EP 0w-20 I could use as well. Hate to waste Mobil EP on something doing severe service during winter, short trips, never warm, it would freak me out and I'd find myself sleepwalking to the garage and changing oil in the night, it would bother me so much.
I've got loads of Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 and ultimately that will probably be the go-to oil for this cage. DI, small displacement, turbo, it has carboned up intake valves written all over it with the short trips it will see most of the time. While the port injected cars with no EGR system can probably digest anything that keeps metal off metal, this one already chews up oil, and I've already heard the shop guys yucking it up when doing the timing chain recall about folks "not changing the oil" and when they said that all that flashed through my mind was "yeah, or they tried to run 5K OCIs with Supertech conventional 5w30 and the car just turned it to goo".
