Hello everybody,
I am new here. This is my first post.
I just got a 1995 Nissan 4x4 pickup with 158,000 kms on it. It's got a 3 litre V6 in it.
I had my mechanic do a tune up and the first oil change for me on it, but after only 1,000 kms, the oil is dark and smells old.
I wonder if I should change it again. Perhaps the previous owner didn't do too many changes and the change washed out some gunk that needs dumping.
My mechanic, who is a Nissan owner/specialist, put 5-30 oil in it.
In my previous truck, a Nissan 720 4x4, I always used Fram filters and Quaker State oil.
Does that sound like a good thing to continue doing?
What would be a better filter and oil available in Canada?
I have a buddy who recomends Amzoil and says you don't have to do frequent oil changes with it. Is that true? I have always gone by the change every 5,000 km rule (3,000 miles).
By the way, how much oil does the 3 litre take in an oil change anyway?
Thank you for your assistance.
HL
