Does Caffeine bother you?

Gave up on coffee almost a year ago now. Glad i did. no more afternoon crashes or morning urges to have a cup of coffee as soon as i opened my eyes. once or twice a month can of Celcius.

I use to drink 4 cups a day by 12 noon, but in the summer at work I would sweat too much. Now ( don't know what this will do in summer) I have one coffee in the morning at home and maybe a Bang energery drink in the winter 2/3 a week at work. That doesnt seem to make me sweat like the 4 coffees did. Summer time will be the test. If so the Bang will be dropped to one a week. I just love one of their flavors. If it is not a work night, I can drink a cup of coffee and go to bed,.............. a work night, adrenaline goes up worrying if I can get to sleep and I don't.

A single cup of coffee or tea messes me up. Something about the natural caffeine in it. I do drink coffee and tea from time to time but it's far from being an everyday beverage for me.

I do drink diet soda. Mostly Diet Coke that contains caffeine. I can't feel it and when I run out of soda, I don't crave it, get a headache or anything. I don't like drinking water when I could have a Diet Coke instead.

Caffeinated soda has man made caffeine in it, which isn't the same as naturally occurring caffeine, I don't care what anyone says.
It's like saying beet sugar and cane sugar are the same, whatever.

Interesting. Parallels some of my thoughts.

It's not so much that the source of caffeine makes it different - it is the OTHER stimulants in the drinks.

Coffee and tea have many (natural) chemicals in them. People just focus on caffeine.

To me, black tea is the WORST. I feel screwed up for a bit after drinking it.

As a computer computer, I needed max focus on code. I could drink a pot or 2 and work dialed in for 12 hours straight.
My Doctor has tole me I can have 1 cup in the morning. If I want another, it has to be decaf.
Coffee, like many things, can become a habit. You think you want it. I love coffee.
I cheat a little with a Starbucks Chai if we are out on a drive or whatever. I sleep soundly!

Not sure if that is totally true--for some, yes, and for those who suddenly increase the level in their bloodstream, sure. But those are acclimated (aka addicted) might not be. Pretty sure I've read this in an article or two on the web, so it must be true...

I do know, in the past, if I had to take a long road trip, I'd get the largest cup of coffee to go, and would slowly sip as I went along. I'd be fine. Until I took a sip of water, then within 30 minutes I'd be looking for a bathroom... but I could drink all the coffee I wanted, all morning! Water goes right through me, coffee sticks around.

I was going of the top of my head, decided to double check myself and you have a point about the diuretic thing.
chronic users of caffeine develop a tolerance to this effect and experience no increase in urinary output per wikipedia.
I am a chronic user and well its not about output as volume, but going a few times more. Can be annoying.
Lots of complex processes going on.. have a friend who would talk hours about the stuff...

I can’t do without it or I start having withdrawals. It doesn’t bother me unless I don’t get any. I know it’s bad but I can’t help it. I typically drink 2-3 sodas a day and on work days it’s 2-3 sodas and a yeti cup full of coffee at work in the morning time. I’ve gotten used to it now so I have to have it. I would prefer sweet tea over soda but nobody has any good sweet tea except Milos from the store. We make tea at home but it’s unsweet because that’s the only thing dad will drink so I can’t drink it because it doesn’t taste the same when you add sugar after it’s brewed. Really I only drink tea and coffee I’ll get water with lemon at a restaurant but after that we go straight to the gas station and get our free sodas. That’s actually where we are heading now. And I don’t mean light soda like Sprite or Sierra Mist like i would drink as a kid I mean like Mtn Dew, Mello Yello, etc the most unhealthy ones because they are the best ones.

I absolutely love coffee. The smell and, if it's good coffee, the taste. A nice chai tea or other black tea is great too. Not a huge fan of green tea but some of the blends are tasty. When it comes to soda and energy drinks I find most of them too sweet and/or gross.

Sadly caffeine makes me have to go to the bathroom, and I'm not talking about #1. So I try to avoid it.

I have been drinking coffee since before I was a teenager. Never drank that much pop. I need 3-4 cups every day. In the military I lived on coffee to keep me up for the long hours. I never felt jitters unless I had been up for a couple of days or more.

French press in the morning yields about 2 of these. 4oz each I think? I grind what I need each morning and that’s pretty much it. It’s a dark roast, oily so it grinds very easily. To each his own.
