I was told at a Lincoln Mercury dealer when i was buying motorcraft mercon 5 for my Moms 2004 Grand marquis that motorcraft oil may not be made by Conoco Phillips does anyone know anything about this?? The person who told me says he thinks another company makes it as of December 2008 but was not 100% sure he is a parts manager and has been there for years, we always ask for him when buying parts for the shop because he always gets it right.. Just curious if anyonje else heard anything..

Motorcraft Full Synthetic and Synthetic Blend is still being produced by Conoco-Phillips. The Motorcraft Oil/Air Filters are still made by Purolator as well.
Whoever told you that is was not being made by Conoco-Phillips for Ford is misleading you.

I know that some of Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers are being approached by Valvoline to sell that product rather than Motorcraft....My opinion, stay with Motorcraft products..please.
If your dealer does not put Motorcraft oil/filters, either buy the product at your local Walmart,then tell them to install it, or tell them that you want Motorcraft only or you will take your business elsewhere.
That is what I said to my selling dealer, when the dealer put Valvoline Premium Conventional Oil, and a Motorcraft Filter on my Mustang. The invoice said that the dealer put Valvoline Durablend, but the number on the invoice indicated that it was from a 55 gallon barrel, and was Premium Conventional Oil.

I know they use Motorcraft products as they put those products in my 1995 Mercury Cougar, and 1991 Ford F-150. I slipped into the garage to quietly watch the mechanic working on my car and truck, and he put all Motorcraft products in the vehicles.
My car gets better miles per gallon from Motorcraft Synthethic Blend than from Valvoline Premium Conventional Oil. I saw a 10% drop in mileage as a result of the change.
I have checked my mpg since I bought the car and used http://www.fueleconomy.gov to put the same information into the EPA site.
I will not put Valvoline Premium Conventional again in my car....period....
