That's how I roll. Every great once in a while I'll turn on the radio but I rarely even do that any more. Plus, I think I'm the last one on the planet who does not have a cell phone.
It was a cold winter years ago. Temp was about -2*F.
I was driving my Jeep to the store to get stuff for breakfast.
No top, no doors.
I stopped at the light and looked to my left, upon which I saw two guys from the rod & gun in their truck.
He rolled the window down and looked at his watch.
He then asked if I'd been drink'n.
When I first got my M3, listening to music while driving was genuinely frustrating. I reacted to the combination of music and engine noise like I'd react to the sound of two songs clashing.
That's less true now, but not by much. Most of the time, if I listen to anything, it's news radio because that still lets me hear the engine.
If I get my way with my next car, I suspect I'll be back to square one -- i.e. no music ever...
I paid a lot of money to upgrade the already awesome stereo in my 05 Mustang GT. It was great until I got the exhaust installed, then rarely turned on the music after that. I loved listening to that motor run through the RPM range, especially the tone change between 4500 and 6700 RPM. You couldn't hear the radio anyway. Awesome! Just today my wife and I took a trip in the Silverado without turning on the music.
I do that, just drive and shift and enjoy the machine. My car doesn't try to think for me either, it relies on me doing the thinking. It don't even lock the doors automatically above 15mph, I can open the door and jump out at any time! Okay it has tire pressure sensors but only because the goverment mandated them in the US awhile back.
Lots in the Trans Am.
Love to row through the T56, listen to the cam sing through the MAC headers and Magna flow pipes. T-tops off sun shining. The smell of unburnt fuel as I lay into the throttle with just a hint of tire spin and waft of rubber.
