Synthetics will run cooler.

Is it because synthetic is more slippery and will therefore provide less resistance to the moving engine parts?

I have been told they dissipate heat quicker, than conventional oil, though I don't know exactly why.

Police cars get heavy duty everything - which is good and in the right direction. Who knows what conditions will arise?
The thickness of the oil has more to do with cooling than dino/synth. Thinner oils cool the engine better.

I just bought an 07 Accord 2.4L. Same engine as the Element. I installed Hayden 401 tranny cooler in my own garage. Took a few hours, no special tools needed.

Thinking maybe I should have gone for a bigger cooler since the tranny lines are not significantly cooler, still very, very hot to the touch.

What is the max oil temps that will be encountered? Some syn base oils aren't much better than the higher quality dino oils.
