What engines and transmissions are in these two and how do they compare? The Ford has a 4 speed auto and the Dodge is a 5 speed manual. I appreciate everyone's input.

Of those two choices the newer Dodge for $2,000 more. If both were the same year, miles, and close in price, then the Ford.

Dodge Caliber with the 5-speed manual for sure. ( I love my manual transmission!)

Caliber is about 5 years newer than the Focus and almost brand new!

Focus is WAY over priced and has a lot more miles.

Both of these cars are overpriced for what they are.
You can get a killer deal on a new '12 Patriot, same platform as the Caliber in a more attractive and more functional shape.
You can also get a killer deal on a new '12 Focus.
Why buy used when you can buy new for not that much more?
Also, what's up with a 1-2 year old "used" car with 481 miles?
That doesn't smell right.
A quick search shows that a new '12 Pat would run only ~16K, while a new '12 Focus would run about a grand less.
If you really want to buy one of these cars, email every dealer within a hundred or so miles of you and get their price on a new '12.
Then play them off against one another.
For a few grand more than either of the cars you've listed, you should consider something new and unmolested by a previous owner.
If you make some serious inquiries, you should be able to get a really good price on a new machine.

I have always been a Mopar guy, but coming off a bad and expensive experience with a 2011 mopar product, I would take the ford in a heartbeat, as far as quality goes Ford has Chrysler covered by a mile, this coming from a so called Chrysler guy.
(hanging head in shame).

Appreciate all the help. I called the dealership to make sure the car was on the lot before I came over, but I had sold a few hours before. Back to square one.
