My normal routine for washer fluid is to fill the tank with water and put a splash of car wash soap in it. Im a high user of washer fluid since I do mainly interstate driving. However, I have always wondered why people purchase it vs making it. Thoughts?

BTW, I purchase the blinker fluid, thats important!

There are numerous recipes for homemade washer fluid floating around. I've found one that works for me and use it instead of buying washer fluid.

It's so cheap at the store that it's not worth trying to make yourself. I got a bottle for $2 at Walmart just before the prices went up, so it should last me all winter.

Purchase. Walmart sells it for $1.99. Hard pressed to make your own and justify any so-called "savings".

Well, its filled about twice a month and my only cost is a few drops of carwash soap or dish soap or window cleaner or what ever I have laying around. Sometimes, its just plain water. So basically, it cost me nothing.

Stop , it's only January and I can't take it anymore .

Well, a front is supposed to come through over the weekend and we are expected to be in the 30's, the coldest day in 4 years according to the weather man. I have the electric blankets ready and a pile of firewood too. Truck stays in the garage so I dont think my free washer fluid will freeze. I will NOT be going anywhere in that cold of weather anyway.

No, it doesent get very cold where I live. Its 60 today so I have the heat on and wearing my thick winter socks, a bit too brisk for me actually.

You just want to show off and brag that you don't have to deal with the cold :D 🥶

A gallon of alcohol itself will cost much more than commecially-available washer fluid

I pour the water from the bottles my gf buys & takes 3 sips out of. The rest waters the small plants around the house

I got 4 gallons at Canadian Tire for $8 (Cdn dollarettes) earlier this winter. Good to -45C. No way can it be made at home that cheaply. During the thaw you can go through a gallon every couple of days.

7€ 1,3 gal -22f fluid ... it froze just like summer fluid.. sodding liars !
i had to dump etanol in to melt it.

I know it's colder in many places but it was 6º F this morning and life continued on here. No school closing or even delay, everyplace is open.
