Do you ever half-tuck?

Oh, I used to all the time....

...when I was 6 years old.

If you have spent any time in uniform, stuff like that will bug you. Unsecured shirt tail, popped collar...etc... You shouldn't want to look like a bag of rags

Better question would be "How do you stay tucked." I always all tuck but man I can`t keep it tucked.

I think the last job I tucked for was Remington. I was skinny enough back then that my stomach didn't hang out.

Getting back there ... but have a ways to go.

Half tucks is when you miss a spot?

My daughter told me I looked like a doofus when I tucked (due to high waist). So, I've gone untucked for the past eight years. I only tuck if I put on a suit - very rarely.

Buy tall shirts. I'm 5'11" but have only a 30" inseam. I'm tall from the waist up. Tall shirts are my secret to remaining tucked.

If you half-tuck, you are being casual without being a slob.

So, all the way in or all the way out for you?

Additionally, if you half tuck, you get to look like you're trying desperately to be stylish and trendy, while failing miserably at both....

If you're having a pumpkin peach ale, the half tuck might look good with your dainty glass....

I don't think aybody who's built more corpulent than slim should tuck any shirt other than a dress shirt with tie. The stuffed sausage look is horrible. It's of course up to anyone to choose to not care or to even like that look, but I find it awful.

The half tuck works in my opinion because I like asymmetry in clothing. For example, I love side button shirts, vests and side zipper jackets. The half tuck looks often fine with t-shirts, Polo, Henley and casual button shirts, because it avoids the stuffy buttoned up look without looking totally slobby. It doesn't look always good and not on everyone, and I understand if someone doesn't like it. I never tuck t-shirts, they are either un- or half-tucked, but I do tuck dress shirts. Casual shirts are either tucked or untucked and then also unbuttoned, with a t-shirt underneath.

But this isn't why I started the thread. I simply wanted to know who was aware of the half-tuck. For some that's trolling, I gather.

No...it really doesn't look anything other than slovenly...not cool, not hip, not casual...just a slob.

Tuck a polo in? Sure.

Leave it untucked? No problem. Particularly in the summer, they were designed to be untucked.

T-Shirt? No one cares. You're already a slob...so don't try to hide it by tucking the thing in...half of them slip out anyway.

But a dress shirt? Tuck it in. It has long tails to allow it to be tucked in. Leaving it untucked makes you look like you're trying to hide being fat....or that your mother let you dress yourself that morning...

Do half of it? Looks like either you don't know how to tuck in your shirt, or you let it slip out, or you're trying to hide your girth...but it looks slovenly. No two ways about it, you look like a dork if your dress shirt is half tucked in...

Do you realize that half-tuck does not mean that half of the shirt has to hang out half or more than just a couple inches along just part of your circumference?

I disagree with you that only slobs wear t-shirts. If it's the wrong size, dirty or ragged, then yeah, then you're a slobby dresser. Wheter or not that is enough to make someone a slob is debatable.

I wear t-shirts all the time, but only when I am working, or camping, or hiking, or at the gym. They're inappropriate for business, for going out, or for even moderately important occasions.

You ascribe significance to events by the effort you put forth to be there. Wearing a T-shirt says, loud and clear, that the wearer doesn't care enough about this event to bother with anything beyond their own comfort.

No "half tuck", because I do not like to look like a slob.

If the shirt has a "tail" then you should always tuck it in, no exceptions. Shirts like polos with Equal length hems at the bottom can be worn untucked, depending on the occasion.

T-shirts = never tucked.

Hot wheels, you're just way too cool for humble me.
