Do 0W-X blends have significant synth

While it is not much of a stretch to make a 0W oil vs a 5W, I assume it requires more synthetic compontent than would be required to make a 5W-20. Anybody know how much more synthetic base is required to make 0W's?

I bought some SJ 0w30 Honda syn blend ATV oil and plan to use it in my wife's 2001 Accord 4cyl which specs 5W-20. It is the first syn blend 0w30 I have seen.

I do not like that oil - synthetic base with copious octadecyl methacrylate terpolymers. Neither do manufactureres, given the ubiquitous and flourishing stable and clean 5w-20. But, to answer your question, the Mobil 1 is suspect classic true synthetic with 70-80% PAO for their 0w30 grade (per Korean MSDS).

Do you mean you don't like 0w30 blends? They do seem like they are kind of strange. What's the point, just to get a 5 point drop in the "W" visc number, with additives that may not be beneficial for other performance factors.

Well by nature 0w30's or 0w20's M1 for instance probably has 70% or so of PAO any 0w needs to.
