Discount Tire News, Dunn Tire acquisition, new services.

Dunn tire has been popular in the Buffalo NY area for probably 40yrs. I've used them a bunch over the years. I had no idea about the DT thing! You can order your tires online with Dunn and setup your appt. to have them installed.

A few years back I had them put a set of tires on my 2019 Nissan Pathfinder. They quoted me rear pads and rotors while I was there for something like $270 which was quite the deal for what it was. I declined and did them myself.
Same thing with DT stores. My last couple DT tire purchases done completely online including ordering (if needed), setting up the install appointment and payment. Pay with the DT CC which gets me 6 months no interest financing and if purchase amount high enough, 5% discount. As I said, 'seems like' DT and Dunn Tire a good match.

I noticed they recently started heavily pushing wiper blades. Last time I had a rotation, the guy told me I needed new blades "because your wipers are severely dry rotted..." A few days before I had installed new OEM rubber refills. Of course they looked brand new so he could not have even looked at them.

Same here in Colorado ... I replaced my blades a few months prior to my visit and they were pushing new blades "due to streaking"
Guess it depends on the store and management. A recent time I was in, the tech told me something like "I just wanted to let you know that we sell Trico wiper blades but I saw that yours look pretty new and in good shape. Just want you to know for the future though."

Our local DT has been doing alignments for about a year. We've utilized this service. It is annoying that they really started pushing wipers. "No thanks, I can change them myself -- when needed".

I was impressed that Discount tire only had Hunter Road Force balance equipment…then dissatisfied that they do not “Road force balance” tires. They make no effort to match/move a tire to reduce road force. On mounting my 2 Continental tires they told me, “road force numbers are pretty high, your wheels might be bent.” I watched them mount & ballance. No effort was made to break the bead and reduce that number.

I have watched the instruction video on that machine…I bet they haven’t

The 18 yr old kids working there don't even understand tire pressure increases with temperature -- do you think they understand how to operate a road-force balancer?

Just had a manager issue at DT - order tires six days ahead of the appointment … auto reminders all that … Get there at 0830 only to find they did not move tires from the warehouse … Told me it would be noon. Said I can kill time (Home Depot, go eat etc) …
Tires arrived at 1530 … I did spend a bunch of time watching them do tires - lots of pickups with some serious tires …
They seemed to know the drill …
