dino vs synthetic

If you extend Synthetic OCI to double dino you don't waste much money, specially if you add in the labor cost that many drivers pay to garage to do oil change.

Depending on circumstances. I would have to extend my OCI to 15K double the OCI I do on conventional. No thanks I like to get under my vehicles especially my truck.

I change my oil every 3/4k which is around 3/4 months for me and once again I do use synthetic either m1 or qsud my 2011 gmc calls for dexos, any how I don't see how 30 bucks every 3/4 months is expensive but then again I'm not complaining about gas either. I guess some people are just cheap, so now I'm going to get it every one and their mama is going to tell how I'm throwing away my money doing 3/4k oci's on full synthetic. I gotta meet the spec and I just don't feel right leaving oil in there longer than 4k, you guys running 7/10k oci's are the reason I will never a buy a used vehicle again.

Yet the uninformed are as prevalent as ever. You have to meet the DEXOS spec? Since when? There is a couple of articles about DEXOS.

I can provide more if you like but with your 4K OCI's seeing how I am cheap with my 7K OCI's, I doubt you will hear me down here.

I've done my own research ( no need to go through all your links, thanks) and I do believe I have to meet the specifications put out by the manufacture, after all a spec is a spec, not a brand, there are plenty of oil manufactures that make lubes that meet the dexos spec but aren't "registered " dexos products and those are the brands I can use other than the dexos registered products, I won't differ from that spec and let's face it mobile 1 and qsud are darn good oils. Didn't mean to step on your toes there Dave 1251, but if you can remember I was considering running Dino oil and changing it at 3k and that's when I was informed about dexos just so happens the oil I was using was already dexos certified. Different strokes for different folks, and just so you know I do dispose of my oil properly, sorry if I sound ignorant just trying to maintain my truck I love her!

It is a truck. I have had more fun driving my truck in the 3 years of owning it than I have in the previous 15 years of driving. But it is a truck at the end of the day. The most important thing is that the truck start up every time I turn the ignition and stops when I apply the breaks. If you just have to change your motor oil that often go ahead you are not preventing a whole lot of engine wear or keeping it that much cleaner than someone who is changing their oil at a lesser frequency that is following their owners manual.

That there ignorance there gon' cost ya.

I buy whatever is free/nearly free after rebate. Could be Maxlife, G-oil, Synpower, Mobil 5000, QSUD, PenzPlat...

I don't have specialty needs, so price wins out everytime.

That isn't ignorance, it's choice. His money that he buys peace of mind and enjoyment with. Nothing wrong with that.

X2. I run synthetic in both vehicles because I do an extended drain and so it makes sense economically. If you are going to do a short OCI and then go dino.

I look at the wear metals in the UOA section and I don't see any better
wear numbers with synthetic -- often times even worse in many cases.
